I’ve nearly completed the School Days winter coat for my two year old. Only have the optional quilted lining left to do. What a cute coat! I am so pleased because I have very little experience with sewing. I thought I’d bit off more than I could chew with this project, but the pattern was incredibly easy to follow and I learned a lot from making…[Read more]

Hello, can you use lace or ric rac instead of the binding that yoke lays on top of on the playdate dress and or can you omit them all and leave yoke plain

I’m glad you found one! At this point we don’t have plans to release more men’s patterns, but if the existing patterns sell well I’ll be happy to entertain any suggestions. We need to be able to justify the cost and time to develop a pattern, and men’s/boy’s patterns just don’t sell very well. We do them occasionally anyway, but I think men’s…[Read more]

In case anyone else is looking I found a pattern on Jalie. I love the metro shirt package here at Olive and S and am looking forward to making those into hoodies for my crew for Christmas.

Hi~
I wonder if any of you have ideas for me. I am sewing for two petite men and am really coming up short when i look for patterns for them. I just spent many hours trying to make a thread theory pattern work. Sadly after 3-4 revisions my son tried on the pair of shorts that I had finished, they looked really nice off, and they looked funky.…[Read more]

@rose1234 How exciting, congratulations! I know it’s not a dress, but I had so (sew?!) much fun making the Lullaby Layette pattern for my daughters. I’d highly recommend it for a satisfying make, and a gorgeous pattern for babies. you can really personalise it too.
I haven’t sewn since moving house at the beginning of September. I do have a…[Read more]

Does anyone offer tutorials on this pattern, I am still fairly new to sewing and used to pdf that have tons of tutorial pictures and for some reason I keep rereading the instructions and I an unable to wrap my head around sorry , the fb…[Read more]

Hi Rose, congratulations on your soon-to-be-new-baby. A good place to start would be to download one of the free Oliver + S pattern like the Popover Sundress (link: https://oliverands.com/free-patterns/popover-sundress/ ). The size starts at Size 2, but it will be a good beginner project and the perfect way to introduce yourself to the fabulous…[Read more]

Hi guys,
I don’t know how to sew a dress, but I want to start learning sewing because after a few months I am going to deliver a baby.
So I want to make a dress for my baby.
So please suggest me some online sewing tutorials from where I can start learning?
Thanks

I would love to write that book and hope to have the chance someday! A Building Block Dress book for women would be amazing, I think.

I would really recommend that you get the book. Here is why- not only do you learn about techniques, but I feel like you learn why you do what you do. For me, the learning the why is the key. It helps me understand what I am doing and apply it more broadly than just copying another pattern.
My child is a narrow string bean with a long rise…[Read more]
