Generally, cord is fluffy and bulky enough that it ‘puffs’ up once sewn so it is unlikely to be a problem.
If you are worried you can trim a bee’s whisker off your lining pieces before sewing them to the bodice but then your will have to be aware of that and take care matching side seams and notches.
Finally, children are a moving target. The…[Read more]

What about some understitching (sewing the lining to the seam allowance)? I don’t have that pattern, but it’s used in several other O&S patterns to prevent the lining from peeking out.

Hello, I’m having a tired daft moment. I’ve followed the instruction to cut 2 x 1 3/4 x 8 inch interfacing for the placket for the shirt view b, but I can’t see when and where to attach it, please could someone advise me! I think I could work it out but I’d rather get it right first time and avoid wasting fabric!
Thank you, Helena

Years ago I used to travel constantly for work. One year I found myself in Lincoln, NE over the Fourth of July–which fell in the middle of that week that year and didn’t really allow me to travel home and then back again just to take one day…[Read more]

A boat parade sounds awesome! and the down side of parades up here: keeping little ones warm. One year my then 6 yr old daughter was marching (twirling, beginner baton actually, so cute) marched out of her boot and kept on marching, obeying the rule not to stop. I had to grab her out of the parade and reunite her with her marching boot, she was…[Read more]

I’m making a jumper of medium-weight corduroy, and I found a nice fat quarter of what looks like a Liberty lawn that I’d like to use to line the bodice. This is the Music Box Jumper, by the way. The bodice lining is cut the same as the bodice outer fabric. I am wondering if this combination of fabric weights will cause the lining fabric to roll…[Read more]

I just cut out a Music Box Jumper of blue regular corduroy, “cuddle me upwards.” Will post pics when it’s done.
