It could just be that the pattern piece didn’t digitize perfectly symmetrically and we didn’t catch it. Sorry about that. I’d suggest that you just fold it in half and trim it to be symmetrical. I’ll check the file and issue a correction when I get a chance.

Hi Natalie, sorry for the late reply, I’ve been trying to find a moment to pull out my pattern.
I have the paper printed pattern and you’re absolutely right, the pocket pattern pieces for both views A&B are 1/8th of an inch longer on one side. (Size doesn’t matter for the pocket pattern pieces)
I certainly didn’t notice that when I sewed the…[Read more] -

Enbee replied to the topic How long to sew different items of clothing? in the forum oliver + s: double dutch 5 years ago
It’s *really* variable, and depends both on the pattern and on the person sewing.
For me (a slow sewist, limited time), it will almost always take me a couple of nights to make anything. Typically I’ll cut one night, sew the next night (or nights), and finish (hem, add buttons etc) on another night. So even for something super-quick to sew, I’m…[Read more]

Liesl, could you please publish a tutorial on how to change the neckline of the Gelato dress to a V neck?

Can anyone help with advice re choosing the right size for a well built little boy? His waist is 31.5” – the hip measurement for a 12. However his height is about a size 7.
Should I grade the pattern width to a 12 and the rise and length to a 7? It’s the rise I’m really not sure about.
Thanks.

Good thing my mother knows I’m a procrastinator! The “baby” from my first post is now almost 18 months old, but I finished the shirt! I thought I’d close the loop on this post and thank people for their advice.
I made a muslin, Mom tried it on earlier this summer when we visited her, and I’m very glad we went through the trouble. She preferred a…[Read more]

Well, thank you, Liesl! I really enjoyed sewing the shirt and you can see the results (with a few personal touches) in the images attached.

You certainly could Sandy. You might find you don’t need to adjust it much as I think from memory I can get mine on/off without undoing it. If you mark the centre front pattern piece half an inch or so lower then draw in a new curve meeting back at the same shoulder point. Just remember to lengthen your bias finishing tape as well
