  • Oh thanks so much Sarvi! You are so helpful! I read all the links and feel so educated now! I am going to download a digital version and figure out all that printing stuff. Thanks again for your help! I searched but apparently I didn’t find any of those links so I must not have searched correctly!

    Denise 🙂

  • Thank you, thank you Joanna. I thought a similar idea for the woven lining. The non-zipper version sounds easy. I saw in a post discussion here (turning a library dress into a Tea knockoff) the bodice would need to be slimmer in order to fit snugly against the body. Would love to try this version if I can get the measurements right.

  • I was remembering the various costumes and it came to me that we used very inexpensive craft felt for the hats and a pattern very similar to the hood in LTTS for many of them over the years. The thing we liked was that we didn’t have to worry about a close fit and no worries about them falling off since they had ties. The hood pattern could work…[Read more]

Digital vs paper? How about a combo?

Oh and congrats on the babies/toddlers!

  • Hi Denise! You’re right, the patterns that went out of print are now happily available in digital, and some have been digital-only from the beginning. This is a popular topic, so if you don’t mind, I’ll give you a quick recap and then try to dig up some of the older links.

  • I think I might have answered some of my own question already! Am I right in that not all patterns of oliver & s are offered as a paper pattern? It looks like that some are only offered in digital?

  • Hello! I am new to these patterns as I have new girl (and boy) grandbabies (twins!). They are now toddlers actually and I want to do some sewing for them. I have long admired these oliver & s patterns online and have a ? before I order. I am a digital person, but I wanted advice on how to decide which to buy, digital or paper? What are the…[Read more]

Thanks Fi! The bike has dried out but only time will tell. The kelly chain is going flat out right now and I have knocked off from sewing. I can hear a two legged mouse getting into the milo but the baby is fed and I am too tired to get up and evict it back to bed!

The pants have their waistbands pinned on and there is so far just one top cut…[Read more]

Tamara, I used the Darling Diapers Unlimited Pattern for the fitteds, but after I did that I found this site with lots of great free patterns. I used the NB/S squaretab to make my pockets and her FOE cover pattern for my covers.

  • Many decades ago, my school performed Noah’s Flood (B Brittain). With so many different animals, costumes were a problem. Solved by masks that were worn sort’ve on top of our heads (paper mache), and bodies in simple A-line tunics over leotards with long sleeves, and legs. I simply cannot remember what we did for shoes – I know bare feet would not…[Read more]

Yowie, T! A cyclone. Help! Really sorry to hear about M’s bike; that’s serious. Admire your cool to keep sewing throughout, and looking fwd to pic of Chloe in T party dress. I’m sure the rain is welcome, but I hope wind damage is minimal.

Heidi, there was damage but not structural – and Murray lost his motorbike in the creek (which looks more like a river at the moment).

But it didn’t deter me from sewing because the Puppet show set is complete (if you don’t count the elastic in the shorts) and the sunbonnet looks so cute with it.

The Teaparty dress is still awaiting…[Read more]
