I am keen to see the LTTS cape in a quilted fabric.

I am sewing a polo shirt for my husband but after that I have 1/2 dozen nurses capes to make for the school students for ANZAC day. They should be nice and quick, the pattern is based on a boomerang pillow case.

I use Deb/My North’s directions for bagging a lining. Whenever I go it alone, I stuff up, I go back to Deb’s blog and it works!

By all means, sew it with fleece if that is what you have, but it is such a lovely sew and fleece doesn’t really wear that well….
One thing to be aware of is that it is a pattern for a woven, not a knit so you will have to be careful for the pieces stretching out of shape.

I have made it with a fleece interlining and it worked very well. I would be very happy to make it from fleece 🙂

Don’t feel bad Mel, I made exactly the same mistake, only the neckline of my cape was already finished with buttonholes and the hem periphery was more than 5 metres around ( adult cape)
I now try to remember that you can only turn a donut inside out if the centre hole ir outer perimeter are open! Although NanaMar’s suggestion of lining AND cape…[Read more]

When I sew a fine fabric like voile or lawn, I won’t use the 5/8″ gathering stitch in order to avoid the punctures. 1/4″ and 3/4″ usually works just fine for me.
