  • I agree that muslin is the best route to take but my aunt lives overseas 🙁

Ok, so I’ll do size 4 with FBA and check the ease amount on the waist/hip again. Thanks for all your input! 🙂

the kids’ spring show had a pirates premise, so of course they both drew long coats when I asked what they wanted to wear. After some thought, I modified the School Days Coat for both of them — hers with some shaping out of jacquard, his with no shaping out of poplin and satin.. Her pants are Puppet Show shorts lengthened to below the knee,…[Read more]

Don’t you love when the fabric gets to decide?

After a busy few days I am still yet to complete the hopscotch dresses. Just the hems to do though.

I pulled out my basket of knit remnants and have been fishing through sorting them out by colour. It is the project for the long weekend, to try and use up as much of it as I can with the playtime…[Read more]

  • I’d say the City Quilter exclusives if you want to commemorate your trip, and Tinsel Trading… also the shops that cater to costuming for stage. I think everything else could be found in CA if you looked hard enough…

Sewed up a pair of lengthened Sunny Day shorts in chambray with embroidered anchors and a Colette Sorbetto top for me, me, ME!!!

The lengthened Sunny Day shorts don’t want to be sewn in navy linen. This makes twice now. For the sake of my sanity, I’m going to respect their decision.

    Ruffled halters are up next…

  • Kim, thanks so much for sharing this.I just visited their web page. What a great sale and the proceeds go to a local non profit, what a great idea for helping each other. It’s too late for me to participate this year but I have just started a box to have ready to donate for next year’s sale as we are only about half hour drive from the VT border.…[Read more]

  • Do a size 4 with a FBA and go out to a 10 at the hips. I don’t have the cappuccino pattern but I do have the similar Portfolio and there is plenty of ease in the waist area (you might want to double check the finished measurements just in case)that you do not need to grade to 16. You should do a muslin.

  • Someone with more experience than me is going to answer you I’m sure. View A is not the easiest pattern to adjust because of the 2 layers, but it can be done. View B might be easier. I think you need to start at a 4, do an FBA and grade out the bottom of the pattern to a size 16. Try on the muslin and make your second round of adjustments from…[Read more]

  • Hello! I’m sewing Cappuccino tunic for my aunt and need help with the size.

Should I choose the size based on high bust or full bust for this pattern? High bust is size 4, full bust size 8 and she has B cup (5cm difference between high/full bust).

Also her waist is size 16 but hip is size 10. So should I use size 10 or 16 when grading?

  • In an earlier post someone wrote about a big sale of sewing and knitting items in their city. If anyone lives in New England there is a destash fabric and yarn sale, this weekend, at White River Yarns in White River Junction, VT. The Amtrak train station is across the street from the sale. http://www.whiteriveryarns.com/

  • That sounds so pretty Lisa

  • I just made this pattern (love it) I had the same question but looking very closely at the illustrations on the instruction page I could see that I wasn’t going crazy. The cape is a great fit and my daughter has worn it everyday since I finished it. 😀 I’m keen to make the mummy version now.
