I’ve made loads of these for my grandchildren, I love the pattern and have recommended it no end of times. Howeveer, I’m coming unstuck on the oldest one, now 7, she has always been very tall for her age, now over 4’6″, and is also now quite shapely. The largest size on the pattern is 12. I can easily add to the length, as I think they’ll be a bit…[Read more]

I am noticing the same thing! It made sense on the collar band but sewing the cuff and facing together 1 in into the sleeve creates a strange jutting out cuff that rolls the placket pieces inward! I am ignoring directions as written and just sewing the curve.

As far as I know it hasn’t been done. The pattern was specifically designed for knits, so I’m afraid I can’t offer any advice here. It may be worth a try if you’re willing to fiddle with it, but I can’t offer any assurances since it’s outside of the scope of the pattern itself.

Sure, but be warned the sewing queue is long! I’ve got three bear suits and a Goldilocks dress to sew for next month’s Melburn-Roobaix -

I made a laptop case for my son recently as he needed a soft pouch with pockets for mouse and charger and earbuds. The Field Trip Cargo pocket instructions to the rescue to help me create a bellow pocket!
I never cease to be impressed how often the Oliver + S instructions can help out! -

There are times when the calibration of a printer’s driver is just off by a bit. We’ve seen cases of this happening more than once.
If you want to double check the file vs. what the printer is saying about the size of the test square when printed, you can turn the rulers on in Adobe Reader to measure the size of the square within the software. I…[Read more]

For clarity sake, can you say whether you were printing the A4/letter version, or 36″ wide roll, or A0 standard paper sheets.
If someone tries to fit the US 36″ wide (darn you US rebels) to an international standard A0 sheet the scaling could easily end up whacked.

I think it’s worth a mention… just had the digital pattern for the Womens Metro T-Shirt printed by my local print shop. It took 3 tries to get the 1-inch test square to the correct size. The final print was at 103%. They use Adobe Acrobat software to size, scale, and interface with their printers. And, they noted that this was a first for having…[Read more]

Thank you for pointing out that there is a whole separate piece for the front button placket…duh! I also thought the 1″ piece cut off was the piece to interface and I’m like, that’s too narrow… I am grateful for this easy to use forum! I didn’t have to scrap my sewing plans for the day!!

I’m interested in sewing the marais dress in a non stretch woven fabric. I can size up, is there anything else I would need to do? I could cut some bits on the bias, but feel this would be option rather than a requirement?
I’d welcome any thoughts and ideas, and I’d love to hear if any testers used a woven.
Thank you.
