This is my favorite top pattern! I wear the size 18 and it hits right betweeny hips and waist. If you length it I would use the 8 for the top with drafting a curved shape to the size 10 at the hips for coomfort. If you have the Cappacino (this pattern is shaped just like like this) pattern you could use it and mesh the top of the marine time to…[Read more]

@ldk237 too funny!
My eleven year old has just come to me asking where his pants are as we are not at school today and going to a field day instead. He was wearing his dad’s shirt! Miles too big! Please don’t ask how it got into his wardrobe😳🙄

@mama_knowles, I hope you’re feeling better! When can you sew again? I can finally start exercising in three more days! (Although I might cheat a little bit and start early…) It’s no fun to be laid up, I know. Hang in there!

I’m going to start my first maritime top, and I’m not sure about the size I should cut. My bust measurement (36”) points to an 8, but I was considering the possibility of enlenghten it a couple of inches to make it reach my hips, that are not an 8, but a 10 or 11…(40 1/2”). I have never mixed two sizes in a pattern. How should I do it? Where…[Read more]

We decided to dedicate last week to potty training since the daycare was closed and we were home. When DD returned to daycare yesterday she was very proud to be wearing ‘big girl pants.’ However on her second trip of the day to the potty, she sighed as she sat down and said ‘ahhh, why am I using the potty all day?’ 🙂 Growing up is such hard work!

@mama_knowles any surgery on limbs can be tough. We take them so much for granted and with the heat of summer it makes things so uncomfortable. What happened? Smocking would be the perfect solution to sewing frustration.
Sewing has been slow here too. I have been “trying” to make a button up short for four weeks now and I haven’t even cut it out…[Read more]

Our children start school this next Thursday although September dies sound much better! This summer here was not as fun as it normally is with my leg surgery. It was much tougher than i had thought. I have not really sewn in over two months! It’s driving me crazy so yesterday I picked back up some smocking.

Ha! In New York, you can always tell it’s the end of the month because all the bad furniture has been left on the curb for pickup. You can find some treasures, but there’s always a risk of bedbugs, which have become a real problem.
We don’t start school in Spain until September 8, either. Suddenly, summer isn’t moving quite so quickly as it…[Read more]

Most schools in Ontario (Canada) go back after Labour Day on September 6th.
We call the Labour Day long weekend, “Bad Furniture Weekend” because that’s when the highways are full of parents driving their kids off to college towing some fairly horrid looking furniture for residence.

Out curiosity, when does school start in your neighborhood? I think some schools have started already, yes?

Hi Liesl, I was wondering after looking at your tutorial for customizing the raglan t-shirt if I could draw my line from the lengthen/shorten line down the length of the t-shirt instead of from the shoulder(or I guess here it is the top raglan sleeve seamline) as I love the fit from the shoulder to the waist and really don’t want to change that. I…[Read more]
