Description

This quilted vest is a great finishing element of a terrific outfit as well as an extra layer to add warmth. Its quilted design is oversized and boxy, so it can be layered. Choose two lightweight fabrics you love and quilt it yourself with a layer of batting in between, giving you an opportunity to express your creativity. The vest includes welt pockets (View A) or easier quilted patch pockets (View B). The stand collar gives it a nice finishing touch. Add buttons and buttonholes or snaps, or skip them entirely if you prefer.

Suggested Fabrics

This pattern works best with light- to medium-weight woven fabrics like cotton poplin, sateen, lawn, or voile, as well as linen, rayon, or silk. Keep in mind that you’ll be quilting the fabric with a layer of batting in between two layers, so thick or stiff fabrics may become too heavy.

Notions

Light- or featherweight fusible interfacing, coordinating thread, five 1/2"–5/8" snaps or buttons. You will also need one twin-sized quilt batting (72" x 90"), which is enough to make two vests.
