Butterfly top and skirtReviewed by Diane Clark (Verified Buyer) on 03/09/2021I love this pattern. Made for my 3 year old granddaughter and was pleased with the fit. I made the top with sleeves in knit and used ribbing for the neck. So cute! Was this helpful?Butterfly blouseReviewed by Megan (Verified Buyer) on 12/16/2020Fantastic patternEasy to sew, I have made three different sizes for my granddaughters in varying fabrics. I am asked to ‘make one for my granddaughter please’ by my friends. Highly recommended🤗Was this helpful?Butterfly blouseReviewed by Gloria Robison (Verified Buyer) on 05/30/2020Love this pattern. Have made it for my granddaughters and they look super cute. Was this helpful?Cute classic styleReviewed by Grace Newell on 12/17/2019I have made several of these now for my nieces and they were quick and easy to put together, especially after I made the first one. I've made them in white broderie with flutter sleeves and they just look so classic and simple, so sweet and go with everything. Was this helpful?sewing MimiReviewed by (Verified Buyer) on 07/05/2019Love this pattern, but I wish you would consider making them up to size 16 for little girls that wear larger sizes!!!!!Was this helpful?Butterfly blouse and skirtReviewed by Polly Patton (Verified Buyer) on 08/22/2018I made this in a cute blue and white butterfly printed cotton. It was an easy pattern and I enjoyed sewing it. I considered using my serger’s narrow hem on the blouse sleeve. The folded hem seemed a little bulky for my fabric. I’ll probably try that next time. Was this helpful?Adorable topReviewed by SaraJane Kramer (Verified Buyer) on 04/29/2018I made this top for my daughter in a cotton lawn. It's absolutely adorable, with an easy to follow pattern. I made french seams to make them cleaner, but otherwise, the pattern is great as is. I will definitely be making more of this top.Was this helpful?Butterfly TopReviewed by Susan Boston (Verified Buyer) on 08/09/2017I made this top for my 4 year old granddaughter and it is so cute. It was simple to make and the directions were very good. The gathering in front and the ruffle sleeves give it detail to make it different and special. I paired it with the Lazy Days skirt—a good match. Can't wait to make more of these next summer. Was this helpful?Butterfly TopReviewed by Mary (Verified Buyer) on 04/12/20175 stars- It turned out great! I am fairly new to sewing, and the instructions were so clear and well-written that I successfully executed techniques that I had never tried before. :)Was this helpful?Butterfly topReviewed by Nancy Lepard (Verified Buyer) on 04/10/2017I did some mix and match for my 11 year old granddaughter. This was her Easter outfit so I wanted elegant. I used the Butterfly top, and in the front I cut a 8" yoke and added pleated fabric inserts, using the same fabric (Bear Threads batiste), with French lace, also a insert of the skirt fabric. All going vertical. I added some lace along where the little 8" "yoke" joined the rest of the top front. It turned out great!! The pattern directions are very easy to follow. My granddaughter loves it!!Was this helpful?Beautiful and fun to sewReviewed by Enbee (Verified Buyer) on 10/22/2016I made two blouses as gifts - one in size 6, the other in size 12. This was a real pleasure to sew! I love how the different sleeves give the blouse a totally different look. My only complaint is the thread chain loop for the button. I made them as directed, and they were just so delicate (and also not particularly attractive, but that's probably operator error). I ended up cutting them off and adding a hook and loop, but both blouses now have a non-functional button. Ah, well - next time I'll take the suggestion to sew in a thin elastic or something else for the button.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Pure magicReviewed by Lydia (Verified Buyer) on 06/13/2016I bought the PDF Butterfly blouse & skirt. I could make the skirt all day, every day. So easy and quick. The blouse is equally easy; very clear instructions and simple to alter to your own taste. I made both the gathered & cap sleeve. I will insert a different sleeve from another pattern the next time I make it, just because its what I prefer, but that's the magic of O&S patterns: easy, clear instructions and flexibility for more experienced seamstresses to improve upon a proven model. Than you for revolutionizing patterns & homemade style! Was this helpful?Cute Spring OutfitReviewed by Jaimie Orfanos (Verified Buyer) on 04/11/2016I have enjoyed making three of the skirts and three of the blouses. My daughter loves them and has asked to wear them repeatedly. For the blouse, I think it was not necessary to have the back blouse pattern be split into two pieces. Just added more work and because the back did not gather at all, I didn't see the need. Having said that, I think it would have been nice if the back did gather! Was this helpful?Butterfly Blouse A+Reviewed by Christine Breaux (Verified Buyer) on 04/08/2016Made the butterfly blouse in a size 3 for my granddaughter! The directions were easy to follow! I will make more blouses for her since it was such a great fit. I absolutely love all of oliver + s patterns. I have all but 2 of them! Thanks! Was this helpful?Love the patternReviewed by Kathy Brown on 04/05/2016I made the butterfly blouse and skirt for my granddaughter. The sizing was right on with the pattern sizing guide. The directions were clear and it came together very well. Of course she looked sweet as could be in her new outfit. Was this helpful?Skirt only... So far.Reviewed by Sharon H (Verified Buyer) on 03/25/2016So easy! I've made three of these skirts for my daughter so far.
Very new sewer and found the instructions super-easy. Especially compared to other brands.
Also loved that I could have the full size pattern printed out from the electronic version. As my daughter goes up sizes, I can cut out the pattern for the next size up each time. Was this helpful?Novice sewerReviewed by SewNewbieGal (Verified Buyer) on 11/30/2015I bought my first sewing machine 5 months ago and completed several simple projects before diving into making clothing for my daughter. A friend of mine recommended that I start with O&S patterns and I am so glad I did. This blouse was the first piece of clothing I made. I felt the directions were very detailed and was a fairly simple item to make by myself, which is what I needed as a novice sewer. The blouse turned out beautiful and I bought several more patterns. I know the price is a bit higher than most patterns I've seen, but you get so much education from the directions and info they provide. Also, the end product is beautiful. I highly recommend these patterns for new and experienced sewers.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Butterfly blouseReviewed by Vicky France on 11/05/2015I absolutely love this top, such a simple pattern to follow with some lovely tips along the way. I love it so much I've made two in a week! The finished top looks so professional and it's really fun to choose a fabric completely different to the same old things in the shops. Was this helpful? The cap sleeve is to die for!Reviewed by Catherine Lassen (Verified Buyer) on 07/28/2015The sweetest top ever. This goes together so easily and includes wonderful tips and diagrams. I live in a very torrid climate so plan to make many more.
The shape of the cap sleeve is so sweet and fits together so well in the armscye that I found I didn't need to put in any easing stitches (although I would still recommend it if you're inexperienced in sewing together two differently shaped pieces).
I also used a very small pony tail holder (can't remember where I saw that tip) for the button loop in the back.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Such a sweet blouse, finishes beautifullyReviewed by Allie (Verified Buyer) on 07/24/2015I loved sewing this blouse and I loved how it turned out. It is simple in many ways, but the details make it special, especially in the right fabric. I haven't tried the skirt yet. Photos of mine on my 11 month old are on my blog here: http://www.crozette.com/2015/07/butterfly-blouse-and-bubble-shorts.htmlWas this helpful?CuteReviewed by Jennie (Verified Buyer) on 07/20/2015Very cute little outfit, easy to make, easy to print and stick together, the skirt is super easy and I have al lready whipped up several for my four girls. The blouse is very cute and I have plans to make more. This is my first Oliver + S pattern but will not be my last, thank you for a great every day basic outfit builder!1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Butterfly blouse and skirtReviewed by Phyllis Lake (Verified Buyer) on 07/04/2015I made the size 3T. The skirt was fast and easy and turned out well. I give it 5 stars.
I have to give the blouse 3 stars due to the bias facings on the frilled sleeves. I had to draft front and back armhole facings to not have puckers around the armholes. I've drafted front and back neckline facings as well. Next time I'll make the cap sleeve version and use my neckline facings. Since I shouldn't have to draft extra pattern pieces to get a good result, I give the blouse 3 stars. The two pieces average out to 4 stars. Was this helpful?O+S Butterfly Blouse & SkirtReviewed by Karen on 07/02/2015I made the skirt in a bold floral in just a couple of hours from tracing the size 4 to inserting the elastic in the back waistband. The front pleats were easy and make an elegant statement. I used buttonhole elastic to ensure a good fit as I was sewing the set as a gift for a friend's child.
The blouse is a feminine delight to sew. I used a light batiste and added French lace to the hem and sleeve edges. As with all the Oliver+S patterns, the instructions were complete, very informative, and easy to follow. The result was a very charming outfit that fit well and that thrilled the recipient and her family.
I will be making more of these! Was this helpful?Gorgeous!Reviewed by Trish P (Verified Buyer) on 06/25/2015I made the Butterfly Skirt ... and then I made 3 more! It is such an easy skirt to make, but doesn't look simple when worn. The instructions are so clear, you will be whipping up these in no time at all ... and this from a beginner-ish sewer. I'm really looking forward to making the shirt next.1 of 1 customers found this helpful. Was this helpful?Beautiful Butterfly!Reviewed by Louise on 06/14/2015Thank you Liesl, for another beautifully put together pattern! The instructions are just so well written, nicely illustrated and the pattern is so very flattering on my small one. A beautiful layering top and skirt for winter and a light and breezy outfit for summer - what more could you want? Thank you again! Was this helpful?Butterfly BlouseReviewed by Denise Bartram (Verified Buyer) on 06/12/2015I love this top. Also made in a size 3, it was easy to sew and looks so cute with shorts. I will be making more of these. Thanks Liesl :)Was this helpful?Butterfly BlouseReviewed by Donna (Verified Buyer) on 06/11/2015I made the blouse in a size 3. The digital pattern was easy to put together and the blouse was easy to sew. It was very cute on my little 3 year old!Was this helpful? -
