Was feeling a bit off today so I sat the kids in front of the TV and retreated to the basement. Finished the boy’s slipcase (just in time, it got cold again tonight) and sewed him a new pair of LTTS mittens out of the remaining fleece. My sewjo may be coming back!
(BTW, my autocorrect tried to change “sewjo” to “sewage.”)

I think it would be sweet! I know I make fun of it (bad childhood memories), but you’ll do it in the classiest way possible. Go for it!

Every time someone asks me about fleece, I always give the same answer – the old Malden Mills – now this website: http://www.millyardage.com/ for yardage. That’s what I used to make my daughter a hooded sweatshirt from the raglan shirt pattern recently – I used Polartec 100 weight which I got at a ridiculous sale for $2.25/yard. I definitely…[Read more]

Right, Shelley, I understand what you’re saying about different standards for print sizes, but I keep picturing what plans look like for even a simple building project — they easily run to thirty or forty pages. It seems counterintuitive that it would be 10x the cost to Australian builders, especially when you can’t fit as much information and…[Read more]

It’s time for my favourite show
But to the sewing room I surely must go
A project is waiting
With smocking and plaiting
It’s a difficult row I must hoe.(I am not a good starter… but here’s my attempt).
On my fabric sits the cat

Ahhh, Shelley – you beat me to it – your average Aus print shop can’t print the large format sheets 🙁 – but as you say, taping the pages isn’t actually that big an issue – I do it while watching tv – I don’t sew at night any more, so this is a way I can do something sewing related and still be sociable.
However, if you know an architect or an…[Read more]

And so I was curious to try again…
an online search finds lots of reprographic shops in my large capital city. Most of which are only listed as a business directory listing and would need a phone call to see what they can do. About a dozen had websites. Most of them only offered A3 or A2 at biggest. One or two offered A0.
Eventually I found one…[Read more] -

@Sarvi, the problem is that the largest standard paper size in Australia is what’s known as A0 which, in inches, measures 33.1×46.8
(link: http://www.papersizes.org/a-paper-sizes.htm)
There are some PDF’s which might print fine on that if you check first that they don’t go beyond about 33″ of the intended 36″ print. But plenty of others would lose…[Read more] -

We finished our attic conversion in January this year and in February I could finally move into my new sewing space. I put up some progress pictures on Flickr.
I also did a blog post on it here.
After having used it for almost a year I can truly say I love everything about it. I am a messy sewist though so the room is not this…[Read more]

Where in Australia are you? Try googling “reprographics [town name]” and see what that pulls up. I tried it with Sydney and Rapid Reprographics, Allied Reprographics, and Reiga Reprographics all came up on the first page of results. I’m sure if they couldn’t do it they could recommend another printer who could, who might not have the word…[Read more]
