I agree with sateen for choice. It will look slightly dressier also. Don’t be afraid to add a little bit of colour into the mix. Even though my son wore the Christening gown I had already made, I made a silk romper for him to wear to my sister’s wedding the same year, in ivory silk and lightblue mini piping. It was perfect and very manly looking…[Read more]

Hi @caraskates, I think they will look adorable.
I have a tute here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2011/08/short-cut-sailboat-pants.html if you would like a look at the construction (apologies for the dated graphics, I was in my colour phase)
These are a great trouser to size up, which will give you that longer leg you are…[Read more]

Yes I was thinking the same thing. I have enough for both the tunic and dress in the size 12-18 months which is what she is currently moving into. I cut the bubble dress using the Children at play border fabric. I just love this pattern.
I am hoping to cut the pinwheel dress and tunic today and also (maybe) a teaparty dress. It was so stinking…[Read more]

I confess I was hopi g to grab a moment to sew one last item for 2015 but didn’t get there. However, I am starting the sewing year off with a bang as I have traced six patterns in the new size required and am currently dilberating over which would be more suitable for my lovely and very precious Liberty lawn. Amongst them is the Pinwheel dress and…[Read more]

Oh, hang on @reeni, do you mean wool fabric for sewing, or wool yarn for knitting?

Nicole replied to the topic Zipper (or other closure) for the quilted vest in the forum oliver + s: school days 9 years ago
I remember that style jacket being very popular in the 70’s.They were often fastened with a frog closure.
Would that work for you?Or you could finish the edge and then baste an open end zipper under the front edge and then topstitch in place?
I hope that is some help?

Absolutely @reeni !
I’m so bored of sewing navy pants and my seven and a half year old is fast outgrowing his current ones.
I’d love to give them a home and a new schoolyard!

I love this skirt too! Especially on little girls with their cute toddler swagger😀 It’s an absolute keeper of a pattern for sure.

Oh @thejennigirl😂 That sounds all too familiar. I have a confession to make! I ran off with my daughter’s sewing scissors because they were sharper than mine – and she hasn’t noticed yet😉😱

There is one little problem though with “Pheobe” – she has measurements that would accomodate a size that Chloë would wear but she is long. She is actually the size for a 3 year old so I am thinking of sneaking a little one into the mix just so I can play dress up with a life sized doll that doesn’t wriggle and get dirty before the photos are…[Read more]

@housecall, if I may be so bold, here is a tute http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/the-garden-party-tutorial-part-one.html
Unless your ribbon is very firm I would be inclined to sew it on top rather then replace the yoke and waistband.
*Love* this pattern, have fun.
