I do a similar method to Deb but I pin the darts on the outside, then mark the lines on the inside with tailors chalk and transfer the adjustments to the inside.
The same as Deb, this is my method, not necessarily a correct method.
I have not done enough fitting to help you with your particular problem.
I have not made the dress…[Read more] -

Can’t wait to see a @Sarvi take on the Fairy Tale pattern.
I wish I had time to make a pretty Christmas dress. Instead, I’m burning the midnight oil making a Thread Theory Newcastle cardigan. This one is for a friend of my parents who had modelled the one i made for my dad, and was quite a hit when he appeared on my blog! Yes, Roger will be…[Read more] -

Thanks @meleliza. I think I got the pockets right. I was very impressed with how the zipper was hidden inside one of the pockets.
These culottes are finished such that I need to either shed at least five kilos or gift them on.
I have plenty of fabric to try again, but perhaps not enough time!
I’ll cut just the top five inches out of muslin and…[Read more] -

the Woodland Stroll Cape would be such a quick and easy sew, but takes up a lot of fabric for the size I need. I’ve decided to bite the bullet and draft raglans based on the Nature Walk sleeve/bodice proportions, that I can get out of 1/2 yd or so of 60″ fabric… and think about wings! Maybe craft foam, reinforced with chenille stems?
I’ve…[Read more] -

It looks like just the black circles/ovals is vintage appliqued onto the top, and the base fabric is relatively normal medium-to heavy weight cream satin.

The Popover is the fastest sew ever, and a good showcase for gorgeous fabric. My favorite to sew is the Jump Rope, because I love plackets, but the Carousel would look gorgeous in linen.
Sun-drying, though eco-friendly and free, is bad news for lycra… so is water/detergent that is too alkaline. -

How did it go Sarvi?
On a scarier note, I hope no one was caught up in the horrid situation in Sydney, AUS.

Someone might suggest the Coco dress by Tilly and the buttons with the funnel neck option. If they do, don’t listen, I think it’s pretty poorly drafted.
There must be a vintage Vogue pattern that’s similar surely….
If you find it I’ll have a dress just like your daughter’s please. 🙂 -

@Kerrilyn as an Aussie cyclist I can share some lycra laundry tips!
Wash lycra clothes (bike gear, swim suits, high lycra content knits) in wool wash not detergent.
Always dry on a clothes horse in the shade not on the line in full sun! Now that the sponsorships have ended I have to make my knicks last forever!!
Second the Roller skate as one of…[Read more] -

How did the storm affect it Sarvi, was it a lighting strike? We lost a cordless phone once, due to that.
