Thanks! its a good point about the safety, i mentioned it to her mom and said its up to her to decide. I have a feeling it may become a day dress if it comes out well 🙂

helpful to know baout the neckline!

  • Thoughts on cute shapes for preschool aged boys? Things that could be adapted from Oliver+S patterns?

I was thinking of shorts or pants with suspenders? Other ideas? Ways to modify an OS pattern?

My boys (3) are too big for bubbles but I’d like some similarly cutesy things for them before they get too tooo big

  • im making a nightgown for a 6 year old, her mom sent me these measurements

    Head: 21 1/4″
    Chest: 22″
    Hips: 23″
    Shoulders: 26″
    Bum: 24 1/4″
    Shoulders to hips: 14″
    Shoulders to ground: 39″
Top of head to ground: 46 1/2″

on the size chart it looks like she is a 4 for the hip and chest but a 6 for length (she is a pretty tall skinny girl).

  • I need to do the last steps but in the meantime its gotten too cold here for the coat 🙁 at -15 and -20 they need a different kind of coat.

but warmer weather is expected for the next weeks so fingers crossed

  • lovely! the fabric is great. The sleeve construction is very interesting!
this is a gift for a little one who lives far away, though I do have two much younger but very big headed kids of my own that might make appropriate head models, I will ask her mom to send her head measurement as well.

  • I have my pieces cut! But that is all for now. Sewing tonight I hope. After I cut everything I tried the size 3 I already made on one boy and its not huge, I hope they dont outgrow it in a day or something. But at least it will fit them now

  • Thanks!
Where is the tutorial? I would love to read it before I start!
Say more about the mod… when you say ribbing for the neck do you mean the neckband and that would make it sufficiently stretchy? I would like to avoid the buttons since it is for a nightie but was unsure about how to do it.

  • ah, when you type it out it seems so obvious 🙂 i hadnt purchased the pattern yet but of course…
    thanks!

  • thanks! i will give it a try, i do know what you mean about the style of pants that fit that way
unfortunately i find even well fitting pants often make me uncomfortable when im sitting, something about how they press on my stomach even if its not overly tight. maybe there is a sewing/fit trick i could use to address this.

    thank you so very much!!
my lucky day, they were 50% off at the local shop.
(otherwise that place is totally useless. i asked where the magnetic snaps were and the woman helping me said, yes we have them, around somewhere. I had to ask again to get her to tell me where!)

which magnetic snaps are people using? I see there are kinds that have 4 loops on the ends to sew in, but then also ones with a washer and metal parts you bend.
I’m planning on using them on a boiled wool fabric. Any tips??
    Thanks!!
