Much the same as @markjebobarrhotmail-com but it was a wedding dress and the bride was pregnant and her boobs were too big on the day!
I had to hand sew the dress to her bra.It was a pretty embroidered voile and was all split by the end of the night.
My favourite sew was a Peacoat for my son, it was a big sew but not hard, just a lot of steps…[Read more]

I am not sure what it’s correct name is but I use this stitch, not too tight with the tension.
A small stitch to the tube (or the dress) and then a longer one to the other, but don’t pull too tight!
Good luck!

@dubhels2003 I haven’t yet but want to grab the chance to blog them. It is so difficult to get modelled photos of Imogen’s newly sewn things these days, that it basically has to be chances taken during visits, long weekends and holidays.
I have just cut out a view b of Butterick 5616 in size 16. We are using light blue denim and even though the…[Read more]

These are great answers! I hear you on the curtains, @justsewit and @enbee. I made sheer linen Roman shades for the living room in NYC a year or two ago and they were brutal. And I also hear you on the quilt, @rhythmtyagi. Your answers are all very interesting. Keep them coming!

Did you remember to sew across the back triangle of the ears? I found this made mine stand up well but I’ve only used fleece to make the hood.

I’ve had a big sewing day replenishing my wardrobe. 2 pairs of self drafted leggings in red and aqua and matching red Mabel skirt (needs coverstitched hem). I also discovered the red leggings go with another Mabel skirt I made previously which was rather a closet orphan, now it has a friend and I have a new outfit 🙂
I also made a tiny, size F/2,…[Read more] -

Oh yes that hood is a good one!
Today I made three pairs of True bias Hudson pants in size 10 (adult sizes) in grey and black and with two inches added to fit my 5 foot 7inch 13 year old. I also made a start on two pairs of parachute pants, also grey and black in size 18-24 months.

Where did you get your laguana jersey from? It’s my favorite knit material but I’ve only ordered it twice a few years ago. How expensive was the shipping?
I’m not sure what the most challenging thing I’ve made from a sewing perspective is but I third or fourth the fitting challenges! I’ve spent the last 3 days working on getting leggings to fit,…[Read more]

@enbee I have to be fast with my toddler. She can be easy going at times and at other times she is busy figuring out how to scale the safety fence, a chair, or me! This morning though, she was singing to herself in her part of the sewing room so I managed to get a bit done. Other than that my sewing is generally reserved for sleep times. At the…[Read more]

@rhythmtyagi on contemplating answering this post, I was thinking exactly the same as what you have just written! As yet, I have not faced hugely difficult challenges with sewing garments. But quilting a quilt for the first time free motion style was challenging! Well according to the judges at the local agricultural show where I entered said…[Read more]

@eboyd83 the dress isn’t difficult to make. In fact, perhaps try the top first to get to know the pattern and it will be a breeze when you get to make the dress. A wolf sounds fun!

Liesl, this made me laugh so much I almost choked on my drink. I was really excited to create samples for you of the “Desktop Wrist Rest Pattern”. I could not get those teeny, tiny oval eyes to have smooth edges. I went through all of the fabric you sent and then used some of my own trying to get 2 eyes that were the same.
What makes things…[Read more]

@eboyd83 I think it would be perfect! Of course there are many different dresses that would go well but I think stick to the one you would like to use most.

Here’s how I roll…
I learned to sew in 7th grade Home Economics class. I wasn’t particularly good and got a B (which was devastating to me). The summer before high school, I enrolled in a summer class at the high school for sewing. The pattern that I picked – a fully lined fitted blazer. I sewed it in a no-wale brown corduroy. I’m short,…[Read more]

Well, you’re practically reading my mind! Thanks for the feedback, and I think you’ll be happy with at least one of the fall patterns, then. xo
