Thankyou Jenny for your support and for sharing your story, i don’t feel so alone now. But I am still going to research and have good long conversations with obstetricians and specialists to get the absolute bottom line of the whole thing. Having them tell me the God’s honest truth of what can and will likely happen will help me to let go (if I…[Read more]

I completely agree Sarvi.
I made a Ice Cream dress for Tildy, for Christmas, and I added length. I *almost* added too much and spoilt the line.
I definitely made the pockets too low.I can sew, but pattern drafting is way way out of my league. I will leave that to Liesl.
A blazer, what a good idea 😉

I do a little embroidery, I am not very good but I muddle along. I used to smock but I went off that.
I love silk embroidery thread and I like to press my threads before stitching with them.
I want to learn to knit so badly, that is on my sewing bucket list.
I think a wee boys outfit, hand made, top to toe would be perfectly adorable.
Thanks…[Read more]

I know a lot of people here are into knitting, crochet, embroidery, and other complementary-to-sewing crafts. I thought it might be fun to have a little nook of our own.
Some of my favorite knitting patterns are from Brooklyn Tweed, so when they finally came out with a children’s collection I was thrilled. I’ve made one cardigan already and was…[Read more]

I was thinking about this earlier today, and aside from all the stuff we usually talk about — the fine finishes, the quality of instruction, etc. — the thing that really makes O+S stand out to me is the eye for proportion. With the exception of adding a small amount of length to get extra months of wear from patterns I know will work that way…[Read more]

Now I’ve made all the changes to the pattern I realise I don’t have enough of any of my knits to make the first go in 🙁

Just had a peek — yum! My favorite soup uses kaffir leaves and galangal, your curry looks delicious and I love fresh spices.

I think even a lot of people who are not veg/vegan themselves are very interested in incorporating more vegetables. I look forward to checking your blog!

I’m in the process of trying to make the swoon cardigan fit my shape. The back piece is done, I’m nearly finished the side piece then just the centre front and sleeves to go. Each piece has at 3-4 mods on it and some have to be taken over all pieces! I hope it works as I bought some lovley drapey stretch lace when I was in Melbourne on the weekend…[Read more]

Jay, I hope you adjust soon. What an adventure.
Jenny, enjoy your sewing space. I hope young Missy (Gigi? love that name) likes her new room.

We should start a knitter’s club! Seems like lots of do other fiber crafts on the side.
Jay, a new machine sounds so exciting! What do you have in mind?

I’m frustrated waiting til our stuff arrives, and I buy a new sewing machine. I have two lovely lengths of wool to make a pencil skirt and a pair of wide leg, high waist trousers. Meanwhile, I’m working on a cardigan I’ve been knitting since before Audrey was born. I’ve just got to finish the tops of both sleeves and sew it together.
I’m all…[Read more] - Load More
