  • They fall at the hip. I think it just looks low because of the style. Its a great pattern. I have made this one for both my older daughter and my son and hope to make a pair soon for the baby.

You sew the seam at the seam allowance of 1/2 inch. Then when you go to press yhe seam, you open up the seam allowances and then fold the raw edges into the middle, close up the seam by pressing the new folded seam allowances ontop of each other and then stitching along the edge to close the seam up. In the end it looks like a french seam but done…[Read more]

Hi Tamara, I’m intrigued? What’s a faux French seam?

I think cotton jersey is great for polos and T-shirts, and I’m sure it will be fine here. This pattern doesn’t need a ton of stretch, especially with the woven details. So glad you’re joining us!

  • Thank you Lovely!
I just used a slightly longer straight stitch

I think I have the supergirl fabric in my stash. I think it was intended for pj’s but didn’t get used when it was first bought. Oh well it happens. That’s how your fabric becomes “vintage”.

I have sewn on the ties for the 2+2 but only along the neckline. i have decided I am not very good at topstitching because the underneath always looks really…[Read more]

  • I finally made all the changes to my pattern. Now I’m drafting a slight hi low hem. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get to make up the first version to check the fit.

Are they girl super heroes or boys? My eldest daughter loves superheroes too – Batman and the like.

Today I hope to complete the 2+2 top and at least make a start on the music class shirt. We shall see.

I’m up to the ties on the 2+2 and I think I might bind the sleeve seams as I did this on the Apple picking dress and it turned out lovely. Besides it will save me changing threads on the overlocker straight away.

I hope to complete it tonight but am not sure if this will happen as little miss sleeping beauty slept late and so will hit the hay…[Read more]

Still plugging away at Elsa’s coat. Not so pleasant to sew wool with a stuffy nose and head cold.
Sewing for babies sounds much more fun but I have Zara, Hugo, Me, Jed and Gifts before it is sweet Trixie’s turn again.
    It doesn’t stop me planning…..

I’m looking forward to reading the details! Wedding as such fun things but the organising can get stressful if too many people have a say.

    Its like anything!

I’ve been having fun with Chloe learning to roll over just this week and have indulged in some on the mat in the sewing room time. She’s been delighted in her new trick, with her big…[Read more]
