  • Thanks, everyone, for your interest.

After some discussion today, here’s what we think needs to be done. There are so many samples, almost all are size 3, and most people in the forums aren’t interested in purchasing since they sew for themselves. We think we need to broaden the potential customer base for a sample sale by listing the items on…[Read more]

  • The Sandbox Pants have a drawstring like you’re describing, Emily. Maybe look at those instructions and convert them to the After School? It would certainly be do-able, and the elastic makes it possible to pull the pants on and off without untying…

I haven’t really had the chance to sew alot this past week and with more visitors coming tomorrow, time is running out to whip up something durable for Noah to wear. I am at the moment trying to make a pair of track pants using a pyjama pants pattern. They look huge! But I hope they will fit with room and it doesn’t matter if they are basic, they…[Read more]

  • Thanks Karen, I finished the quilt this morning. Now I’m working on a muslin for a friend’s dress.

  • My husband has very good tastes in sewing machines. He knows I’ve been talking about and investigating embroidery machines.
We were walking around a quilt show over the weekend and he points to a machine that is embroidering and says ” What about that one?”. It was a top of the line Bernina 880 worth about $13,000!
Totally out of the price range…[Read more]

The new parachute pants have elastic and a drawstring. I think your plan is a good one.

  • I’m making a quilt. It’s a little quilt and will probably be a baby present. I’m trying a new technique. I’ve backed the circles with fusible backing and ironed them onto the quilt top. I’ve then made The quilt sandwich and used a large zigzag to sew around the edge of the circles. I’ve used a bright coloured thread on the back so it makes…[Read more]

So I measured the children yesterday – the two biggies that is. I was referring to the body measurements chart on the Jalie patterns I am using to make some warm clothing (Noah in particular). He fits into what is a size 14 for chest and hips but is a small man’s size for the waist. He keeps saying he needs to lose weight but a growth spurt (and…[Read more]

  • Do you mean an envelope style neck? Where the back comes over the front at the shoulders and opens up to allow dressing?

You can use a woven binding but remember, that it will not be that stretchy so you will need to make sure it will fit over babies head, just with the envelope style opening.

I hope that is some help.

  • Karen, wouldn’t try and re cut it, just make it and they will grow and fit into it. If it’s only one size to big I’d be tempted to give it to them and they grow into it 🙂
