Erin S started the topic Zipper (or other closure) for the quilted vest in the forum oliver + s: school days 8 years ago
I’m making my second School Days Jacket, including the quilted vest (which I’m making with sleeves so I’ll call it the quilted jacket). I’d like to make the quilted jacket also be able to sometimes be a standalone lighter jacket for non-rainy days, but I’m trying to wrap my head around the cleanest way to add a zipper or some other type of closure…[Read more]

Thanks so much for looking into it! I made another pair last night and ended up just adding 3/4″ to back and side panel pieces and 1.5″ to the front piece and now everything matches up perfectly. Not sure what’s going on, but that fix works for me!

When I line up all of the notches and match the pattern pieces, there’s a 13/16″ difference when 8 (pants front) and 9 (pants back) are lined up (with 8 being shorter), and then if I line up 10/11 (upper side panel/lower side panel) and 9 (pants back), 10/11 is 7/16″ longer than 9. So the difference between the pants front and the side becomes……[Read more]

The issue is that my upper side panel (piece 10) plus lower side panel (piece 11) are 20 5/8″ (with the 1/2 overlap between piece 10 and 11), the pants back (piece 9) is 20 3/16″, and then the pants front (piece 8) is only 18 5/8″. Or, when I line up all of the notches and match the pattern pieces, there’s a 13/16″ difference when 8 (pants front)…[Read more]

I’m having the same issue identified above. The first time it happened, I thought it was the pattern so I reprinted and re-assembled those pieces and tried again. Then I saw this post and figured maybe I somehow hadn’t matched the notches properly (so had attached the side panel backward) even though I was pretty sure I had. So I tried a third…[Read more]

Thanks, everyone! I was intending it as something to wear over short and longsleeve tshirts in the spring and summer so hopefully the fit will be okay.

My daughter’s most worn items by far have been the first three O+S items I made: three Class Picnic Blouses (https://www.flickr.com/photos/130325089@N02/16191293655/). They were also the 3rd, 4th, and 5th pieces of clothing I’d ever sewn so was really thrilled that she grabbed them every time she spotted them.
The least worn is this Book Report…[Read more]

I’m hoping someone can provide some input on how the Sunday Brunch Jacket fits compared to other O+S patterns. I’ve put together the front and back yokes and front and back panels in a 2T (plus 1″ of added length in torso and sleeves) so far and it’s looking pretty small. My daughter is 21 months old; other than her height, her measurements align…[Read more]
