I went and specked out your recommendations. The SF101 is great. I ordered a bolt since I can use it both for projects and for collars etc.
I happily ordered online with a 60% coupon from JoAnn’s, so I got a good deal and it will last a long long time… fingers crossed.

SF101 is the bomb. Jenny, I buy it by the bolt when there is a coupon or a sale.

I’ve been to Seattle fabrics, but have not ordered anything online from them. It’s fun to wander around and look at fabrics I didn’t know you could buy and poke through the drawers upon drawers of closures. I found the staff in the store to be very knowledgeable and willing to answer all of my questions. Lots of people making things I don’t…[Read more]

I didn’t seal the seams in the raincoats I made and there was plenty of topstitching. I didn’t have any issues with water seeping in. Granted the raincoats are not worn for long out in the rain. Usually just to/from the bus stop.;)
Here’s a good post with some helpful links: http://sewnbyangela.blogspot.com/2012/03/minoru-done.html?m=1

Just got home… Sorry the shorts aren’t behaving Heidi. I haven’t tried the colette patterns yet even though I have some – not the shorts though so sorry I am not of use there.
I’m thrilled! I popped into the new/ replacement craft shop in Geraldton and discovered they sell Rasant thread! That means I don’t have to get them from Perth! And they…[Read more]

Ladies, thanks for the suggestions. I am going to JoAnn’s tomorrow to feel them. I made a bag once and it was stiff. That’s not what I want, but I do want some body!

I see your point on all things there cybele. There is no point in having Christmas shirts here because it is too jolly hot half the time to wear anything other than bathers and go under the sprinkler. The winter theme sounds much better as then it can last for three months not three days!
I am away from the sewing machine at the moment but when I…[Read more]

Hope you enjoy yourselves at the wedding Nicole and that Tildy makes a lovely last minute flowergirl (bit of a treat I shouldn’t wonder). As for the Bobby, better a bobby than a snake but then do snakes eat dog biscuits?
We have one hiding in the little shed outside the house gate at the moment. Our worker “Flo” found it when getting something…[Read more]

I’ve been branching out into the bag-making world; I’ve been using a lot of this: http://www.pellonprojects.com/products/sf101-shape-flex/ – it’s lightweight, fusible and woven and definitely gives more structure. I like it quite a bit.

I got Thinsulate from Amazon (supplier Vogue Fabric) – free shipping through Prime. The Thinsulate per yard was about the same as Seattle Fabrics, but the shipping directly from Vogue was killer.
