I’m thinking I’m going to give @motherof5 ‘s rota system a try this year – I picked up quite a few Thread Theory patterns during their New Years sale (the wardrobe builder set – Strathcona henley, Jedediah pants, and Newcastle cardigan – and the Camas blouse for me), so together with Liesl’s new patterns, there’s quite a lot of sewing I can now do…[Read more]

Time for some selfish sewing! I ordered the silk batiste last night to make bias tap with for finishing the neck, arms, and hem facing of the wool dress I am making myself.
I’m very excited to get started on this project!

I’ve worked with blackout fabric, and it’s lightweight and durable. I use it as a lining/facing in curtains/drapes with ease.

Robin- exploring new fabrics is a fun adventure! Before you know it, you’ll have an entire library of knowledge of drape, strength, weight, texture and more that you will be able to put to use in the most amazing of ways.

I know you can purchase blackout fabric in white or black, and it’s designed to be durable and to really block out the light. If you use that, you could use almost anything on the “surface” (the side that shows) to make it pretty. I’m fairly certain it’s lightweight fabric and easy to work with. Katy I made some Girl Friday culottes, and while I have some fit issues, since they were my first ever pants I’m pretty happy with them after all. I have a very involved multi location photoshoot planned (cause it amuses me) so they may not get blogged for a while, but here’s how they look in an art gallery setting…. 🙂

Love your fabric choice for the culottes Katy. Maybe I should play along and make a pair for Lucy…. Afraid I shan’t be making the girl Fridays for myself – as much as I love all Liesl’s pins, I am just the wrong shape for them… 😉

@justsewit Time to rest! Enjoy your newborn snuggles, she is beautiful.
I am preparing my pieces for the culottes sew-along and my fusible interfacing is refusing to adhere to my fabric. Very maddening! I have no idea why but I am getting it to stick just enough.
I am making the Lunch Box Culottes, but is anyone making the Girl Friday version…[Read more]

My husband is very supportive, has a great eye for colour and things “going” together and is a creative person himself. Generally he is happy to listen and be involved in sewing creative discussion 🙂
This year i’m going to continue working on my wardrobe, espically getting fit right. I’m working on my TNT tsirt pattern and I got Lietchy’s…[Read more] - Load More
