Fiber Club! 10 years agoI can’t say I’ve found knitting patterns across the board to be unreliable, but I do think that there are so many factors that can affect how a project turns out – gauge, needle size, changes in yarn after blocking, etc. It is easy to get an off result. I went through a shawl phase a couple years ago and I found that it was more difficult to get…[Read more]

Fiber Club! 10 years agoI am also an obsessive reader of project notes on Revelry before starting something – I usually at least scroll through every picture on the project pages and click on a few. I love it when people leave really detailed notes about finished measurements so I try to do the same with my projects. With shawls I think I have found that I needed to do…[Read more]

Fiber Club! 10 years agoI am a frog-er when things don’t go right in knitting. Nice yarn is expensive and I am cheap! It is true, though, that after I frog a project I tend not to want to pick the needles back up for awhile. I always end up going back to it, though. There is something wonderful about knitting, curled up in a chair, with a cup of tea or coffee at your…[Read more]

Fiber Club! 10 years agoHow about going back to knitting some basic, easy stuff that you can complete in the blink of an eye, using gorgeous colour yarn, from a good manufacturer? Nothing too big, say child’s size to start so you get quick, satisfying results- get your enjoyment from using beautiful yarn instead of complex stitch or garment patterns. Pick something not…[Read more]

Hiya Rhythm!
I don’t know how experienced a sewist you are, so difficult to answer straight off. Also, what do you need to learn about- fitting skills? Things like different seam finishes, setting in zips and making buttonholes or more complex stuff like tailoring? Are you experienced using all the different machine feet you can get? Do you want…[Read more] -

I want to invest in some quality sewing books to learn to be a better sewist. This forum is full of immensely knowledgeable people, so where better to ask! What are your recommendations?

I must confess, I don’t own this one (yet, still nursing), but in the comment section on this post it says there is a SBA included: http://oliverands.com/community/blog/2014/10/introducing-the-liesl-co-bistro-dress-pattern.html
I apologize, I should have sourced that the first time, but I was on my phone.

Rebecca,
My daughter has the same needs. Buddha belly and higher rise in the back.We love the afterschool pants for this reason. You choose the size based on the fit of the front, lower rise. Then on the back you do a small alteration that adds to the back rise.
Nicole, I think in your flickr account you drew a picture of the alteration for…[Read more]

Can I bump this with my own ISO for Paper Patterns so as not to clog the board?
If there is anyone looking to switch from Paper to Digital, please let me know! I would really love to nab a 2+2 in the larger size ( I have the smaller), and I would be happy to purchase the digital for you as a swap (or Paypal the digital value+ Shipping of…[Read more]

Jess M. replied to the topic Digital vs. Paper? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago
I am probably no help whatsoever, as I love the idea of digital, but I’m a touch type person, and I have a huge collection of paper patterns. My OCD really really hates having both LOL. I have quite a few digital, and I have to say, the putting together of the O+S digital patterns is a much smoother process than many other indie pattern shops.…[Read more]

Lightning, I would welcome the family reunion dress. It is the perfect style for a friend of mine and she really appreciates boutique (handmade) clothing 🙂
