vothgirl replied to the topic View B Shirt Placket Interfacing in the forum oliver + s: lullaby 11 years ago
The two pieces of interfacing are for the crotch snap placket on the bodysuit only, not for the neck placket. I haven’t looked at the errata to see if/how the directions were edited to fix the confusion, but that’s what it’s intended for – those snaps see a lot more wear & tear due to diaper changes, crawling, etc and need to be reinforced.
Hope…[Read more]

How does that notcher work, I wonder. But I’d use it. I hate notch cutting.
Nice glass head pins. If you’ve ever melted the plastic heads on your fabric when ironing, you quickly learn the value of glass head.
I once bought Dritz glass head pins with white heads. I was using them in a class and was told never to buy them because they were…[Read more]

Really nice shears, needles, and pins, maybe a really nice thread for hand sewing delicate items? I’d be interested in something nice that I can’t get at JoAnn — not a consumable staple but something upgraded.

Jess M. replied to the topic Which size would you use (4 or 5)? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 11 years ago
I’m having this issue right now! I usually scale up. Only because I know we will wear it eventually! This said, I haven’t made many of the pants yet! Only shorts!
I have the feeling Maria is teeny like Tildy! I think the ones I know are a tight fit over the head, I’m sizing up to 5’s. I’m still debating on the Family Reunion–4 or 5 LOL.…[Read more]

I would love to see some good quality sewing needles. I do like a bit of hand sewing (and soon to venture into the hand quilting world!). Also, glass head pins!

I have one I inherited from my Grandma and I’ve only ever used it for heavy oaktag, so I’m sure it wouldn’t be effective on fabric by now. But I hadn’t ever considered using one on fabric until now. Nicole, please do show us what you use! Is it something you’d like to see us carry? I’m very curious.
And while we’re talking about tools, is there…[Read more]

How about the Roller Skate dress? Eliminate the elastic waist; it may work for you.

I thought they were only for using when you designed your own patterns and you cut notches in the tissue! Are you saying they work to cut out notches in fabric?? If so, I am definitely getting some!

Do any of you prolific sewists use notching tools? I hate cutting those little notches!

I think the problem with a button placket would be that it will need to cross the waist seam. Since the bodice and waistline are fairly fitted I’m not sure a partial button placket would allow you to get the waist past shoulders or hips.
My very first fairy tale dress was a sheer crinkly fabric which I underlined and then lined. It wasn’t any more…[Read more] - Load More
