I have to take my machine in for repairs 🙁 I got thread caught around the balance wheel and can’t get it out.
I’ll be sewing on the overlocker and coverstitch for a few days. -

The School Days coat makes a lovely lightweight spring coat in corduroy.

Sunny days shorts would be easy as there are no pockets to try and pattern match.

Ups, I forgot to mention your mod. I have it pinned but never managed to try it out and that would be a sure bet for what I’m looking for! Thanks for the reminder 🙂

@AnaSofia can I humbly recommend my own alteration of the Sketchbook shirt for a polo shirt. I just made another long sleeved version (not yet on the blog) and it works really well

Boy’s patterns also do very well around here 🙂
The Art Museum, the Sandbox and the Sketchbook patterns have always been heavily used and I would like to believe these are in O+S best-selling list! I have made countless versions for all seasons and to be honest I’m only sorry I don’t blog more about it 🙁 (my fault, obviously).

Hi ladies,
Two questions- I am making my second bubble dress and want my scallops to stand out more. I noticed in a photo of Nicole’s of a dress made from a fabric with big circles (bubbles?)on, that her scallops look great. What’s the secret? Stiff material? Interfacing in scallops?
Second question, somewhere on line whilst I was searching I saw…[Read more] -

Welcome Lucy, the Forrest path sounds wonderful in pre quilted fabric.
I’ve had a very busy week, we just got home from a 4 day camping trip! hopefully today I’ll get back to the machines and finish the embellishment of my dress and the hems 🙂 -

I have made it with a fleece interlining and it worked very well. I would be very happy to make it from fleece 🙂

Don’t feel bad Mel, I made exactly the same mistake, only the neckline of my cape was already finished with buttonholes and the hem periphery was more than 5 metres around ( adult cape)
I now try to remember that you can only turn a donut inside out if the centre hole ir outer perimeter are open! Although NanaMar’s suggestion of lining AND cape…[Read more] -

ahh! I was trying to turn the whole thing through an opening in the lining while the outside was completely closed, no wonder that wouldn’t work 🙂 thank-you both!

So I’ve made the cape into a poncho twice now but do you think I can figure out for the life of me how to turn it right side out?? I’ve tried leaving a spot for turning but end up not being able to turn the whole thing right side out. Both times I’ve ended up ripping out the hem, turning it under and topstitching on the outside all along the…[Read more]

I have a feeling that happened to me too awhile ago. I going to try to remember what I did about it. I do remember being rather unhappy about the whole situation. Certainly not a moment to suck it up.

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Could I add a lining after-the-fact? in the forum liesl + co: everyday skirt 10 years ago
As for fabric, do choose something slippery. I have a winter style/weight everyday skirt and it needs a slippery lining to stop it catching on tights.
Bemberg rayon or acetate or silk… I’d avoid a cotton like batiste or voile. Perfect for summer and bare legs but no good with stockings. -
Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Could I add a lining after-the-fact? in the forum liesl + co: everyday skirt 10 years ago
I haven’t done it but it could be done if you’re friendly with your seam ripper. 🙂
I’d cut an identical skirt without pockets or waistband out of lining and about 1/2″ shorter. Then detach the waistband and reattach it over both skirt and lining. If you’re happy to have topstitching effect then the reattaching could be a one sew step by putting…[Read more] -
