OOh new babies. That’s lovely and exciting. I hope everyone had a lovely mother’s day.
I don’t have time for much lately between work and hospital visits, but I am lurking on the blog and checking out discussions. π

Sorry, that would have been me. I ran some maintenance on the database, and it seems to have kicked out a bunch of notifications. I’m not sure why. Not sure why some can’t be marked read or deleted. Could be a caching issue and they will be taken care of in a little while.

Depending on your fabric, you may need to ease in the waist a bit to fit the waistband. To do this, you would just add a gathering stitch to the top edge of the skirt and pull up on the thread tails to cinch up the fabric a bit. Then you’ll just smooth the fabric so you don’t have any puckers before sewing it. Does that make sense?

Are you looking at the cut line or the seam line? Sometimes the two are quite different especially on a curved waistband.
I’ve also had waistbands slightly smaller than the skirt to encourage a snug fit.
I haven’t made this so I’m not sure if it’s intended or not.
Good luck π -

I made a Colette Mabel Skirt in half an hour before work yesterday in fleece, except for the seams. It worked but even though I went up a size to account for the lack of stretch in the fleece it was too firm for comfortable movement. I’m thinking of cutting 4″ off the bottom and adding a ruffle to give me more movement as I’d love to have such a…[Read more]

Nicole, I’m eagerly awaiting the big reveal of the coat!
I had a bit of time on my hands last night while waiting for dough to rise, so I sat down with a cut Maritime and started hand stitching it with button thread, Chaninesque. Not doing the embellishments, just basic construction and tacking down the seams. Going to try it on and then see…[Read more]

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Plaid match up in the forum oliver + s: forest path 10 years ago
There are three places it would be nice to have plaid match, but unless you alter the pattern or are very lucky you’ll probably only manage two out of three.
The 3 areas are: Horizontally across the two front panels. That is to say, if you follow a line of plaid across the body from left to right it should match.
2: Vertically across the front…[Read more] -

Hi Sarvi, I’ve made this top twice now in knit and done some kind of FBA each time. But I add 1 1/4″, not 3/4″. I did a traditional FBA, but because of the drape of the knit, the dart ended up under my bust.
That didn’t answer your question. I think it depends on how stretchy your knit is. It’s a fun sew, reminds me of the sailboat top.

Has anybody made this? I usually make an 8 plus 3/4 in FBA in the woven patterns. Could I get away with a straight 8 in a knit?
