Oh, thank you Todd!! Well, last night, I took matters into my own hands, and using the Sketchbook pocket and facing pieces, I added pockets to the Butterfly Skirt. Making this, officially, something I would wear any day! LOL! Maggie likes the pockets soon. Modeled pics coming to my blog soon, I’m sure!…[Read more]

Sew Alongs 11 years agoI messed up on my first one too and had to unpick:) I threw mine through the wash and steamed the neck with an iron. It seemed to help. On both sizes I made, I clipped the collar just a bit in the front to help ease it in.

Sew Alongs 11 years agoMy collar was a bit funny, I had to remove it because I had both packets folded out. I seem to remember fudging it slightly and relying on the stretch of the knit to make it work. Sorry I can’t be more specific 🙁

Sew Alongs 11 years agoSo I am hoping for some help here.
When I was attaching the collar, I sewed both the front (button hole) placket and the back (button) placket folded back. That worked for the front, but obviously not the button one which needs to be NOT folded back behind the main fabric.
As I was pinning, I remembered thinking wow, the neckline is much…[Read more]

Did you see Liesl’s recent tutorial on the blog?
adding pockets to the parachute sweatpants (and the butterfly skirt)
Not sure this is exactly what you want, but it could be a starting point.

I wrote up a list of Oliver and S patterns that only used half a yard a while ago. I’ll see it i can find it.
I remember the badminton top and Swingset tunic being on there. I think you’ll need some contrast fabric to make it work. -

I just finished the blouse and I’m about to start making the skirt, but I am feeling an overpowering urge to add side slash pockets. I’m thinking of using the Sketchbook Shorts pocket as a basic starting point (but with a straight rather than curved opening). Has anyone tried adding pockets to the skirt? Maggie is at the “I love pockets!” age, and…[Read more]

I just made this blouse for my daughter and I had to iron the living daylights out of both the neckline and and armhole facings to make it lie flat. While the method for bias facing in the pattern is nice and simple, I like cutting thinner strips of bias and then ironing the long sides towards the middle like single-fold bias tape. I feel like it…[Read more]

Great to know — I am about to draft a pair of size 5s and I’ll keep an eye out for this issue.
