miss_sonja started the topic Best O +S pattern to use to make jeans? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
My son indicated that he wanted some pants like mama’s aka jeans. What O + S pattern eould be best for denim? I have all pants patterns except Art Museum and the sailor-type ones. He’s 2, fyi.

Thanks for the thoughts and ideas. I think the basting stitch idea might work for some things. Like the punch ing a hole idea too.
I read about carbon and almost bought some, but the possibility that it might not come out is worrisome.

So, I have gotten around the marking issue by using pins on crucial spots and avoiding really mark-heavy patterns. But I want to make some more complex clothes and marks are inevitable.
I know there are tons of tools, and I have some — white pencil, yellow Chaco liner, purple disappearing ink pen–but how does one actually manage to do the…[Read more]

miss_sonja replied to the topic Help me enjoy knitting again in the forum Fiber Club! 9 years ago
I used to knit a lot. But sewing is so much faster. I never really learned the faster method of throwing the yarn so I never got fast at it.
I’ve thought of knitting recently too, though, as I’d love to make my son a sweater. I made a sweater for my now-15 year old when she was 2 and she wore it for 3 years! She loved that thing. I used a yarn…[Read more]

I believe Liesl wrote about this in an older blog post, but I recall that she recommended older editions of the Big 4 type books or Good Housekeeping/Reader’s Digest. She said the older books give more detailed information on more topics; the newer ones assume you want to do fewer really challenging things and omit them.
I picked up a 1970’s…[Read more]

I love this little pattern! I have yet to sew up the top, but the pants are great. Comes together easier for me than the Sleepover (I still haven’t figured out those cuffs, after three pair).
Here’s my little guy showing off his train pants!

Oh, I’ve tried the library, I always try that route first with sewing or craft books and then buy the ones I like. Otherwise, I’d have towering shelves of craft books!
Thanks for the feedback; I think this one isn’t for me. Not a huge fan of raw edge sewing either.
Back to my Bedtime Story PJs:-).

I got to work on my teenager’s costume for the big upcoming comic book convention. Fun but hard work.

Rhythm, the clerk fixed it for me but I also went and grabbed another pattern envelope that had the four digit pattern number rather than the three with a P. the off envelopes are the shiny ones. It’s just a SKU/PLU error but probably needs to be fixed at corporate.

And if so, do you like it? The Amazon reviews are all over the place.

Meleliza, I had that same problem yesterday with some of the Lisettle ringing up wrong, as McCall’s. I checked and they were ones with a “P” in the pattern number, i.e. some of the styles (Moto jacket, and crossover dress) had envelopes with two different pattern numbers and PLUs. Got it fixed, no problem, but keep an eye out.
Once I finish my…[Read more]

I had an idea to try cotton like quilting cotton for the pant legs and knit for the waist. Anyone try that?
Just sewed up a pair in Kaufman Laguna knit for my 2year old. So cute!

miss_sonja replied to the topic Fabric Minimum in the forum liesl + co: woodland stroll cape 9 years ago
often, the pattern minimum is needed due to width or grain requirments. I’ve learned that the hard way when trying to be frugal with fabric.
But, I haven’t sewn this particular pattern.

miss_sonja started the topic Cape Ann flannel fat quarter bundle by Moda–anyone interested? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
I bought a fat quarter bundle of Cape Ann, not realizing it was flannel. I don’t quilt with flannel, so I won’t use it. But it’s the lovely Cape Ann design by Liesl. I’d love it to get to a good home where it would be used.
I’d like to sell it for $80, U.S. shipping included. No idea what international shipping would be, but happy to check if desired.

Also, Simplicity patterns are 5/$5 at Jo-Ann this long weekend–time to get the Lisette patterns you don’t have.
