@justsewit and others,
Last Friday we moved the website to a new server (maybe some of you saw the maintenance notification) which has a new IP address.
Anytime you do this there’s an issue with both the internet as a whole and with people’s local networks caching IP address information. We do what we can on the server side to minimize…[Read more]

Hello everyone
I had an email from Needlewoman2 the other day. She asked if I would be so kind as to post something on the forum for her. She is not able to login at all! I am wondering how we can best help her with this?
@todd would you be able to help at all?
She writes….

I’m partial to Kaufman’s Laguna jersey. It’s 100% cotton, not too thick and not too thin, and it comes in a nice range of colors. The heather grays are particularly nice.

This week I made a Library dress from Amy Butler love fabric (the one with the bouquets) in size 12-18 months for Chloë and a traveller dress to fit me in navy linen and used red thread to attach the buttons.
I have to finish three t shirts – Megan Neilsen Briar and a simplicity playsuit for my eldest.
The Bento tee is on the list to be…[Read more]

@with-love-heidi, your layette is divine!
I lined some wool dungarees I made Trixie with lawn.
See here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2015/05/baby-beatrix.html (not O+S *blush*)
They are brilliant as the wool is naturally water repellent keeping her dry when she toddles in wet grass.
Great choice! -

My little girl is about to outgrow
Her coat, her frock, and chapeau
I’d better get sewing
Because there’s no knowing
Homemade will be met with a ‘No’.Babies grow far, far too fast.

I have just finished two Liesl+Co Bento tees for my daughter, Zara (16).
One is in a very light knit which sewing the neck line nearly gave me a nervous breakdown (but turned out beautifully) and the other a weighty, draping cotton/modal.
Both look stunning paired with the two pairs of CityGym shorts I #queuejump sewed for her so she has something…[Read more] -

Yes, I completely understand your concerns. We’ve addressed it in our family by never using S’s name, and I try to be careful not to post specifics about where we live, where she goes to school, etc. You have to do what you feel comfortable doing.

I’m with Tamara. When in doubt, line to protect baby’s skin. You could also underline and treat both layers of fabric as one, which can be a nice option with the same general effect.

Heidi I would line them in a cotton. The wool sounds as though it could irritate sensitive baby skin. I’d use a cotton as natural fibres are best for baby.

Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Question about sewing pocket lining on Everyday skirt in the forum liesl + co: everyday skirt 9 years ago
Hi Cat, the stitching for the pocket should continue to the edge of the fabric.
The fit of this skirt depends on how much you cinch up the back elastic. Ideally, the back panel should be about the same width as the front panel when the elastic is cinched to fit you. This will balance the skirt so it’s the same fullness all the way around. I…[Read more]

@ldk237 I understand. We all put so much effort into our sewing. We deserve to show it off and say “Look what I made!” A headless pic is a good idea and keeps some anonimity. And I agree modelled pics are better. It is an individual choice but I am glad you are coming around to the idea of joining in and posting your photos.

@ldk237 don’t feel bad, I was late to the party also. Some ladies have been experiencing some scary security issues on Flickr, so if you do start a flickr account, this is a heads up. May I give you a little advice? To avoid possible things happening to photos containing the children you sew for, I would increase the security on those modelled…[Read more]
