Hope you enjoy yourselves at the wedding Nicole and that Tildy makes a lovely last minute flowergirl (bit of a treat I shouldn’t wonder). As for the Bobby, better a bobby than a snake but then do snakes eat dog biscuits?
We have one hiding in the little shed outside the house gate at the moment. Our worker “Flo” found it when getting something…[Read more]

juliamom2009 replied to the topic In a clutch… interfacing recommendations in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 11 years ago
I’ve been branching out into the bag-making world; I’ve been using a lot of this: http://www.pellonprojects.com/products/sf101-shape-flex/ – it’s lightweight, fusible and woven and definitely gives more structure. I like it quite a bit.

I got Thinsulate from Amazon (supplier Vogue Fabric) – free shipping through Prime. The Thinsulate per yard was about the same as Seattle Fabrics, but the shipping directly from Vogue was killer.

When I venture in the scary world (for me) of bag making, I use the cheap stiff iron on interfacing.
Shiny on one side, a bit furry on the other. -

We are off to a wedding and Tildy is a lat minute flower girl.
My sister knew she would be needed last night but she only asked this morning as she knew I would sit up all night sewing something 😉I thought you chaps may have liked to see what has been eating my Jack Russell, Rupert, dog nuts https://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/15715731389/

Nicole replied to the topic add length to the vest? in the forum oliver + s: art museum 11 years ago
I would be hesitant to add too much length, i think it may spoil the elegant line.
Hugo is wearing his dress waistcoat today (in 43 d heat)! and I notice it is quite high at the back and not long at the front. -

Yep! That’s what I would do. Surely you would only need to add one more on?

I hope you feel much better soon Heidi. I was not in a good way on Wednesday and spent the day lying down – the world was spinning way too fast amongst other things.
I spent the morning and part of after lunch cutting things out. I have two pairs of Layette pants and three layette shirts ready to go in the pile. I want to break out the bubble…[Read more]

Ok, I have finished the three bodysuits – well I have to hand stitch two necklines but they are pretty much done.
Next on the list is to cut out two pairs of Layette pants, a jacket and two more bubble dresses.
That along with the School days jacket should keep me occupied for about a week I should think.

Nicole replied to the topic Collar drafting question in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 11 years ago
Good point Sarvi, Becky have a look here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2012/01/how-you-bechickadee.html you can see how the collar is shaped.
To add a collar I would sew the shoulder seams and complete the front placket of the dress. I would then open the garment up a lie it flat.
Then take the collar of the Jumprope or Music…[Read more] -

Like Nicole says, it’s always best to check if you’re using a new pattern.
This is probably more information about how the sausage is made than you want to know, but what the heck. If you’re interested in a behind-the-scenes look, keep reading.
All our patterns are developed and grading using ASTM children’s clothing sizing standards. The…[Read more]

That is so fascinating about the ASTM children’s clothing standards, @todd. Does a similar standard exist for adult patterns?
-
@kahawa101, yes adult versions of the standards exist too.
