When your 12 year old daughter comes in and shows you her new dress – that she handstitched herself, straps and all and asks you to help her “redo” it! I will after this week but not right now!

If someone would like to write a tutorial on the chevron method (the V without the cross-over), I’d be so thrilled. It’s on my To Do list, but it’s not rising to the top anytime soon, I fear.

I don’t use the cross over method, too bulky. I cut a triangle out of each end and sew and turn. Perfect’V’.

The trick is in the neck binding. The join is sewn in a ‘V’ to give you the neat finish.

Oh (slaps forehead) i have that one – it has a racerback style tank too from memory.
Could we please have a men’s version of the sketchbook pattern? Enlarging is a nightmare and I could accept my nine year old wearing Liesl and co because it would look the same as the kid’s version. I cannot jusitfy buying men’s clothes for him though.

Haha! I need to do that! I saw this gorgeous dress a friend was wearing at church a few weeks ago but of course didnt have the camera – she bought it in New York!
Another way of doing what Katybellabug said…. Using up all available hard drive space on saving pictures of garments you want to create!

I wonder if there is a way to make the dress but have a detachable portion to reduce it to a tunic? Wouldn’t that be fun to work out?
Up to my second muslin for the sketchbook shirt in size 12 with heaps of mods.

I absolutely second @justsewit – I would absolutely make both items for me (and my husband) to wear; maybe not together, but I would definitely wear a polo for work (in fact, I do quite often), and my husband does as well – and my husband and I both live in sweats in the house.

@April Henry, I am planning on making this soon in the size 8 as part of a sewing swop. I have 27 drawstring bags to make for the school and it is next, after that project.

Someone asks your child where they got their dress/trousers/shirt from and they look blankly at the questioner and answer slowly …. ‘My mum’ ….

Ok I have just read the blog post about the new parachute polo and sweatpants pattern. Would it be possible for us to have an adults version too please? I know my two older children (who are now outgrown from the oliver and s size range) would live in this outfit were it available and my husband loves sweatpants in winter. Even I would wear it as…[Read more]
