Awww, thank you Melani and Shelley.
I agree, I think denim maketh the jeans, not just the pattern. -

@sayiamyou I LOVED those red skinny Sketchbook jeans of Nicole’s. They’re soooooo good.
I think almost any pattern can look jeans-ish if you use denim, an appropriate topstitching colour and do something jeans-esque to the back pocket. At least that’s my theory.
I was thinking maybe back pocket decoration might be a good idea for an Oliver + S…[Read more] -

I recently used the Sketchbook for jeans for my daughter: https://www.flickr.com/photos/79480359@N03/14699004800/
And After School for my son:https://www.flickr.com/photos/79480359@N03/8668350104/
But my all time favourites were made by mixing the After School back with a modified Field Trip front:…[Read more] -

Sorry all of you who are waiting. We can’t even announce the new patterns yet because someone (I won’t say who…) is spending this week enjoying some wonderful spring skiing in Utah, and he has to finish photographing the samples and editing the modeled photos once he gets home later this week. He’ll be working over the holiday weekend to get…[Read more]

Sorry to keep you in suspense!
Everything is printed, and now it’s time for the process of marrying up the jobs from the different printers and getting them assembled. Then they need to ship back across the country and get warehoused before we can release them.
So it will probably be another couple weeks, but it could be sooner if everyone does…[Read more]

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Marking the markings–argh!! in the forum off topic 10 years ago
I’ve gone right off cutting notches as sometimes the seam allowance is small and a vigorous notch could land me in trouble!
I make all markings with ceramic pencil (cloverline) about the only fabric it struggles with is fluffy wool or fleece.
To mark dots within the pattern I stick a pin through all layers, pattern tracing and fabrics and then…[Read more] -

I may be lacking imagination (it’s early morning here) but my thoughts re the placket is that you can’t.
If you want the lining attached attached at the top but free at the bottom you’d need to make the placket only half length or have an almost separate under dress with it’s own placket. Both would be icky solutions I think.
How about underling…[Read more] -

Fiber Club! 10 years agoLinda is spot on. The only thing I would add is that some yarns are inherently very firm and some grow/bloom in counterintuitive way so also block your swatch. Even a half or a third of a stitch off (in width — row gauge is better handled in inches, I think) can add up so much more quickly than it seems it should.

I know what I do but I am not sure what it is called….
I stitch a small stitch into the sash ( 2mm) and that goes to a longer running stitch in the dress lining (1 cm), pulling so it is firm but does not pucker.
I will see if I can find a picture for you.
