Tamara you could try burda 9606. I have used it for my boys, despite the fact that there is a girl on the front. Because the pattern is quite straight (no extra hip allowance) it works for boys as well. My boy is on the slim side so men’s jeans are too big. We did need to add some depth to the torso area and some to the leg.

Okay I have done a rough sketch to illustrate what I mean. I use the gathers/ease on tops that don’t take darts so well. Now it does not have to be gathered, if it isn’t much it can be eased in be stretching the pieces to fit in that area. Working out how much can be a bit tricky. Looking in the mirror and lifting the top up at the bra band…[Read more]

To me it looks like you need a bust dart or equivalent to get rid of those diagonal folds (or whatever the technical name is) running up the side.
Whether you need more around will depend on how tight/loose you like to wear your tops.

I would like this pattern in the larger sizes. Any one know where I could find one or anyone with one in their stash they no longer need?

I did it (on the lisette market blouse) And I am happy. Thanks for the encouragement to give it a go. I often lack confidence to tackle these things.
After thinking I decided to add a gathering row to the first pass area so I had three rows of gathering. Then when I pinned the first time I made sure I pinned the final stitching line and that it…[Read more]

I am sewing with a lovely cotton voile and have used all French seams so far as they are neat and not too heavy. I seem to remember someone saying you can do French seams on sleeves. I have on a raglan style sleeve but would it work on a gathered set in sleeve? What should I be careful of when constructing it? I want to avoid any unpicking! Any…[Read more]

You could take a look at:
http://oliverands.com/in-house-patterns/OLV-IH-3011.html
For the blouse with gathered shoulders and front placket. The sleeves are long in this version but could be shortened.

I can relate, I have 5 boys from 17yo down to 5yo. Boys are hard work! They have heaps of energy and not always the most sensible creatures. They do tend to slow up in there mid to late teens. In the mean time here are some things I try.
Get them directed from the start of my day so that I am on a positive to start. Spending time with them…[Read more]

I have never had a problem with fabric.com. Always received them in a reasonable time(2 weeks to Australia), appropriately packaged and all fabric labelled correctly.
