@roundtheworldgirl – you made me laugh out loud thinking of the weirdo folks who get their jollies from women in checked shirts! I guess there’s something for everyone in this world!

@Linda – that Gail Brown/Patti Palmer serger book has been my absolute lifesaver from when I got my serger probably like 20 years ago. Great book!
I’m in love with books from estate sales – I love getting a book that was once loved/used by someone – I like to imagine that they would get pleasure from another generation reading their sewing book.…[Read more]

The photo of my most recent baby Music Box and bonnet has over 23,000 views. It was added to the Explore group (which, I totally don’t understand how that works) and now I get all these comments about what a great photo it is (it’s not). Random.
On a somewhat related note, people have tried to add my photos into what I can only describe as fetish…[Read more]

I have been knitting 11 years, since well before I started sewing. Funny that you mentioned Brooklyn Tweed, as one of my two current WIPs is his Alberta Vest, for my husband. It is steeked, something I have never done before, and I knit it to the steering stage and then, scared, out it aside. That was about two years ago … I should pick it back…[Read more]

Linda: I’m glad you have made the offer of knitting help on this forum. I’m new to knitting so I’m quite sure I will have a few queries for you!
My love of handwork and anything fibre related began as a child.
Over the years I’ve attempted just about every type of needlework from stumpwork to tatting to smocking. At one point I was totally…[Read more] -

Thank you all, you are like the good sewing angels sitting by my right ear telling me to be patient and test things rather than jumping straight in and ruining my special fabric!
I am going to play around with the pattern and try both using the family reunion dress and also a version playing with the existing pattern to see what happens… I hope…[Read more]

I started off with cross stitch too! I had heaps of books and patterns that I would work with. When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I cross stitched a heap of Jemima Puddleduck pictures and made it into a quilt – we are now using it for Chloe.
I love stumpwork and other forms of raised embroidery. I also love smocking (well I think many of…[Read more]

That was my main area of interest with crochet, decorative edgings and closures for knitted garments. I’d love to see photos of everybody’s work! Maybe we can start a Crafter’s Auxiliary group for sharing our non-sewing projects.
I also wanted to tell you guys about a great experience I had with Brooklyn Tweed. I’d ordered a pattern without…[Read more]

Congrats to Hugo!
My husband finished building his 3D printer last night and did a few test prints. It is so cool!
He promised to print out some buttons for me and the girls have both commissioned loads of stuff. My 7 yo wants Barbie armour, hangers for her Build-a-Bear armoire and she started designing a castle in the design software.
He’s f…[Read more]

How will it all work with nursing Trixie Nicole? Hope it goes smoothly for you.
Thank you Fiona, you are a darling!
@cybele727 kindness is my middle name! To others but not to myself – sounds like such a martyr I know but it is how I work myself is second always.
We are hopefully getting new air con put in tomorrow – if they have the right…[Read more]
