I agree with Nicole, it’s not too slim and not too room. Enough ease to be comfortable without looking baggy.

I find this a good fit, not sloppy, for the size chart given. It is my skinny, broad shouldered 11 year old’s shirt de jour.
I do add some length, maybe 3 inches? You can always shorten it.
Hope that helps.

Hi Judith, I haven’t got my copy handy, but could you snap a pic of yours so I can see what you’re seeing? Maybe it’s in a different spot than usual?

Sounds extremely exotic! I actually might make some for our speedy trip south in a couple of weeks – even though it was only 14 degrees here today it is much colder south so they may be handy.
I will pay some attention to a shorts pattern tomorrow in order to make six pairs for this camp!
Today was perfect sewing weather – 47mm and still raining woohoo!

Thanks Tamara. I had worked it out and the second one took barely 5 mins. The third one my daughter made and wore all day like a giant hairband. Bit like those beautiful African village women wear, only it was light blue velour leftovers, so she looked like an African Elsa!

Ha! I googled snood tutorials for you @lightningmcstitch and it came up with Hijabs?! But I did find this http://momsbestnetwork.com/diy-infinity-or-circle-scarf-tutorial-aka-the-snood/. I hope this is helpful and you can make lots.
I am in the process of rearranging the sewing area to accommodate a rolling (almost crawling) infant plus the…[Read more]

It was one of those stupidly baffling sewing tubes things. Should have been as easy as anything. I thought for a moment about looking for an online tute before I started, then thought, nah, how hard could it be…

Loving the new ability to find a user via the drop down menu that appears after typing the @ symbol. Thanks @admin !
I find that the display for posting in the forum is still slightly too narrow when viewed on my Nokia Windows phone. I can’t get to the submit button unless I hit return. Like this .

Love the sound of that trench @with-love-heidi.
@jackir the LTTS book is such a treasure trove. Have fun with it.
I just got back from the school run and it is soooooo cold. We ride our bikes and now I’m going to knock up some snoods (neckwarmers) out of leftover bits of polar fleece. -

I’d love a slip pattern, although I can think of two or three existing patterns that would be dead easy to convert.
How about nightgown/robe?

I make this for my girl and find I often have a little volume at the top of the sleeve cap (maybe I am stretching it while I sew, or cutting inaccurately) and I like to put in a little pleat or gathers. It’s not a lot. I add a bit of length and might size down just one size, now that she’s getting tall faster than she’s getting wide. She’s five…[Read more]

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies! I hadn’t thought about the buttoning. I wanted to give gathering instead of pleating a shot. I am just so excited she agreed, haha:)

As Nicole said, remembering to change the buttoning side should be all it needs. I wonder if it would be nice at the back to gather the section that is normally an inverted box pleat. The box pleat is quite business shirt-like to my mind.

I’ve got another, slightly different way to avoid hand sewing which is shown here: http://bartacksandsingletrack.blogspot.com.au/2013/11/hats-galore-and-no-hand-sewing-tip.html
What makes the biggest difference to how it comes together is the amount that you’ve turned up the seam allowance on the lining crown. Being out by a little bit here makes…[Read more] - Load More
