Tamara replied to the topic What size "scraps" do you keep? in the forum off topic 9 years ago
I sort mine out according to size and anything with chunks is cut into say a charm square size. Of course with knits it is different – anything that can accommodate a neck band is kept or is enough to use for contrast sleeves etc. i have a basket of knit scraps that many would possibly be big enough for the layette bodysuit.
The bigger pieces -…[Read more]

I will be binding necklines, sewing on buttons and lace and threading elastic today – hopefully! I was up for three hours tidying up the disaster zone that was the lounge area very early this morning due to insomnia.

Tamara replied to the topic side zip vs back zip in the forum liesl + co: bistro dress 9 years ago
I haven’t made anything for myself with a side zip but have had dresses with in the side. I found they were easier to get into if it wasn’t too fitted at the side but them my bodyshape is completely different.
I do love the design of this dress and I believe you could insert the zipper in the back without it altering the entire look. Using an…[Read more]

Nicole can you make kedgeree minus coriander? For some strange reason it seriously disagrees with me. But it does look tasty. Don’t you make it at Easter time also?
I will need to ask the mobile fishman if he has haddock on his list.
I love sweet potato! We tried growing it but they turned out inedible.

Oh! that looks incredible! I totally cheated and bought the stollen and the christmas cake, not to mention a tonne of fruit mince pies! We were given shortbread on Christmas Eve – but you have to keep food under lock and key around here to even get a look in.
Christmas morning breakfast was just the usual – porridge’ but we all had to eat before…[Read more]

The tomato jam sounds amazing! I am not a huge fan of raw tomato but will eat it cooked.
No links to be had because I kept things very very simple this year.
Smoked ham with a potato salad (spuds, boiled eggs (homegrown of course) and mayo which was a bit sloppy) and a very simple stock standard salad I usually make to appease the cheese lover in…[Read more] -

Lining all stitched down but have hit a rock with the buttons – I have a total of one! Oh well, will add it to the list for Spotight and make a trip on Monday. Maybe I can stitch them on during my hospital stay.
Two angel sets to do and then we have to tidy up and knock off for a wee while!

And to whip up a bag on Christmas day! I did something like two stitches!
I am working (slowly) on the lining of the school days jacket. Nearly finished.

I’m up to the lining handstitching on the jacket. Then locating buttons and its done!
I think I might miss out on the puppet show outfit for now. Instead I will work to get something done down the track. Time is of the essence and baby has too many clothes for now. That’s what happens when you keep baby clothes.
I have a few very very special…[Read more]

It could be a once off fluke situation Nicole. My hubby is hoping this one will “take after him” – we will have to attend a wedding when she is ten months old so she can run to the keg if this is the case then.
Trixie sounds like she is gaining in strength which is a good thing but (with fingers crossed), it doesn’t mean she will be running by…[Read more]

Oh yes coffee can be a lifesaver! At the moment the pets are training me not to sleep – four times last night!
I generally sleep well and get to sleep fairly fast but living with a husband who likes noise all the time, it can be draining when you wake in the middle of the night to an infomercial or the big bang theory on repeat! I dont feel rested…[Read more] -
