I have two fairy tales, two bubbles, and a Scirocco (Figgy’s) done as recital dresses with white bodices and black skirts. Two are in cotton, two in silk, the Scirocco in linen. Silk looks fantastic, cotton is easiest to wear, linen wrinkles like crazy (obviously, right? it was for a very hot day and I thought she’d be cooler and more comfortable)…[Read more]

It is a simple pattern with some opportunities for nice touches like a bias-bound facing and hand-blind-stitched hem (did that last night in front of the TV). Once you make up your mind to do the extra work, nz; I’m sure you’ll feel pleased that you did – especially as you say that the fabric will ‘appreciate’ it. Sit down with a cuppa, and something relaxing on the radio, and hem away quietly.

Remember when the news broadcast that it snowed in Greenbushes? Its always a newstory when it snows on Bluff Knoll! Just the fact there is a chance of experiencing a “snow day” my kids would be there in a shot – note to self kick the telly out the door!

A tulle circle skirt is a genius idea as that gets around having to seam the tulle.
However, the Fairy Tale dress has a zipper that crosses the waist seam which would complicate things if you wanted the tulle on the outside. Maybe I’m being unambitious but I think an invisible zipper and layers of tulle will not go nicely together.

@vothgirl I am so glad you are finding a way to cope with PD. My sister suffered and still does I think and her son is six! It can be dreadful but I am so glad you are able to manage it. Are you having counselling also?
