You are the parent and you know your child best. I completely understand the dilemma you are facing as I think it has been made obvious on this forum that my household has had its fair share of issues with our school.

I wish you a very calm and cooperative meeting with many positive things coming out of it on Friday. As for your daughter, we had…[Read more]

I’m in a stressful week. WeeGee’s Kindergarten teacher has been a bad fit. Our daughter adores her because the teacher makes school “fun”. I know the teacher adores our daughter, but it is a bad fit.

I have no problem with the fun. Kids should enjoy learning. But we’ve had incidents about the “fun”.

Since starting kinder, my daughter…[Read more]

  • My six-year-old vastly prefers knits to wovens. I make a lot of Playtime leggings for her. They are her very favorite thing to wear. She also really likes a knit dress I made for her by lengthening the Sailboat top pattern. That said, she will wear most dresses. She does not love collars but I can usually talk her into them. It’s funny, she…[Read more]

I hope you will post photos of the dress, Tamara!

Speaking of sewing tiny things, I am knee-deep in doll clothes to accompany the dolls my girls will get for Christmas. There are a billion free patterns for the 18″ dolls online, but as is often the case with free patterns, I am finding them to be hit or miss. I can’t bring myself to pay money…[Read more]

The dress turned out fantastic and she looked very grown up – the Principal even commented on how pretty it was and her shoes! Alas I didn’t get to take a photo – hands full with a wriggly baby. Now it is covered in meatball sauce and needs a wash.

I think I will make it a tiny bit longer next time as she had issues when sitting (it rode up…[Read more]

@with-love-heidiHeidi, I am *finally* about to tackle that pattern. I hope I can call on you if I need to.

I have been sewing for Trixie. A Playtime tunic&leggings, a Bubble dress+bloomers, a Puppet Show+ shorts, a 2+2 blouse and now a Sailboat top and trousers.

I love how quick and rewarding tiny clothes sewing is.

What are the rest of you…[Read more]

  • What a great topic, thank you @emilyg

This is near to my heart as it is my 7 year olds sewing turn next.
Tildy has her own Pinterest board https://www.pinterest.com/fiveandcounting/sewing-for-tildy/ and we regularly go through it together and discuss what she likes.

What surprised me is how sophisticated her taste is. Tildy is also incredibly…[Read more]

  • I was going to suggest the hopscotch. You can make a shirt or dress. You can color block. My almost 6 year old loves the two I just made. She wants them as nightgowns so comfy.

But yes input it key. It is their ownership of the garment. But I limit choices. I present an either or Or best of 3.

  • Hi @emilyg I think it would be a very personal choice. My daughter was around this age when I started sewing Oliver and s patterns for her. Alot of the things weren’t worn because I forgot one important element in the equation – to have her make some of the decisions.

Does your daughter like relaxed outfits or does she like to dress up and go…[Read more]

I stitched the lining to the zipper but badly and will have to repeat the action properly so that we won’t see the stitching from the outside this time 😱😳.

I am currently altering the Lisette B6183 pants pattern to fit the body of mine. The aim is to make a pair of navy linen trousers to wear later this week.

What a stunning color of a muslin. I want a dress in that color. And the back was a lovely fit. I can’t wait to see the dress!

    Yes, I need the book!

I just finished a hopscotch. One was done except hems. I think I will probably never hem a knit again and will always lettuce them. So easy. I do it a touch differently than the tutorial.…[Read more]
