Thank you. This is my redo pair for my 4 year old son after his planned Christmas pair went missing before he received them. So, I’d like to finish without issue. 🙂

I cut up my paper patterns around the largest size of each pattern piece and then trace with pattern ease paper. I used to leave the ‘big’ pattern sheet intact (like a collector item or something) 🙂 but it is a bear to handle and trace. Now that I cut each piece, I just grab the pattern pieces I need and trace them individually. So much easier, but I just won’t have any ‘mint condition’ patterns anymore. That’s okay with me, I buy them to sew again and again!

I would gladly pay more for the printed patterns. I really resist the PDFs and when I have no choice I buy it and then pay to have it printed. Not worth the hassle to save a few bucks. Maybe PDF for your international following and paper for the rest of us? Please? 🙂

I’m a paper girl all the way. I still use a paper planner/calendar. Digital has replaced everything, so it feels almost sacred! I can’t stand the printing and taping, only to still trace my size. I’ve used a large scale printer in town, but that prints on very stiff paper.

I too have almost all the O + S patterns in both sizes in paper form, but still can’t get my hands on a few…it wouldn’t be much of a collection if it was all PDF 🙂

Robin, I second that! It’s not a race. We’re supposed to enjoy this hobby. 🙂

We’ll just keep encouraging each other.

Thanks ladies. I think I’ll go 4 with length. I think I’d rather it be too big than too small. The dress is pretty forgiving.

I’m making View A for an out of state niece. Her measurements are chest: 20.5 waist: 21.5 and height 43.5. She is just turning 5.

So, I’m planning to cut out a size 2 and add inches to the center for length. What do you think?

Hero there says she wears a size 6 in RTW. I’ve made view c and it is very roomy, so I’m thinking it will work, but the extreme size differential is making me nervous!

I was just wondering the same thing. My 13 month old is swimming in the knit sailboat top I made her (6-12mo size) but the skirt I made in corduroy (same size) is getting too small fast. The knit I used was a jersey.

This is a very novice question, but when cutting out the fabric for the straps, is 42″ the width (selvage to selvage) or the length? Does it matter? Is there a standard rule about which dimension is listed first in a pattern?
