Well, my quest for the perfect fit is improving almost daily, as I make more and more mistakes…no, seriously I am finally getting g to grips wit it, I think. I’ve made some Oliver+s patterns too of course, a new bubble dress for my granddaughter Rose and teaching my daughter to sew the baby layette pattern for the new baby, Chloe. But also lots…[Read more]

First tip from me, when I sew a muslin, I put my seams on the out side, easier to alter.
#1 It appears you need to take fabric from the back piece, not the front. Unpick and move the back until you get the right fit, then pin and re-mark and trim to your new seams.
#2 That bust dart looks pretty good and your front arm looks nice!

I didn’t expect them to show up here! But that seems convenient.
I’m planning to make this blouse over and over – button downs are a wardrobe staple for me. Since I’ll be using the pattern a lot, I want to get the fit exactly right. I made this out of an old sheet, and there’s some inconsistency about right and wrong side of the fabric because…[Read more]

I can’t see any problems with that Ellen. If you get ticked off, blame me 😉
If you are nervous, perhaps post a link to a Flickr photo and people can comment on that?

I’ve been working on a muslin for the Sewaholic Granville and I *think* I’ve got it to a point where it almost works. I would love to post some pictures for fitting advice, but I wanted to check if it’s Ok first, since it’s not a Leisl&Co/Lisette pattern. Would that be all right?
Leisl&Co and Todd, this is your space, and if you want it reserved…[Read more]

Hello everyone 🙂
After perusing Pinterest boards for Cappuccino and seeing some tops with beautiful big V -necks in stunning fabrics I am wondering if there is a way to make the neck a deeper and wider “V” ? I have seen a few tunic tops with stunning ribbon-like v-necks just like the Cappuccino and wonder if it can be done.
Has anyone…[Read more]

Hello. It has been YEARS since I’ve posted on here. I am regaining my sewing mojo and I want to make some things for ME. Hooray. My problem is that I prefer skirts and dresses longer . . . midi length. Which patterns could I lengthen to that length. I’ve got a couple of metres of liberty tana lawn and I’m considering downloading the everyday…[Read more]

measure your high bust and your full bust. If there is more than 2″ difference, using your high bust will help you get the correct fit in the shoulders and over all bodice. So if your high bust is 34″ but your full bust is 38″, you want to pick the pattern bust size 34. Then, you add width and length to accommodate the bust fullness.
It all takes…[Read more]
