My love of stripes and cheap fabric has led me to this problem a couple of times.
With the fabric wet you may be able to realign it so that the selvedges meet and the stripes are vertical, or maybe not.
I would cut so that the striped pattern is true and figure that a small degree off straight grain is workable. -

Good memory Sarvi.
Yes, that was me and it was so frustrating. I ended up cutting the body to grain and cutting the cuff to the pattern but then interfacing the whole cuff so it was a bit more stable.

Apologies for jumping in, but I did this myself somewhat recently and after agonizing over it quite a bit I realized I was making something very simple unnecessarily complicated. I took her school folders and set them on a piece of freezer paper and drew a rectangle with rounded corners around them, eyeballing a bit extra room. I made the…[Read more]

I haven’t encountered this myself, but I remember Nicole making something .. I think it was a shirt for Hugo? where it was printed off grain and it was super annoying. Can you tug/steam it into shape a bit? I’m not sure how much you could ameliorate it before the animals looked really skewed.

Sarvi replied to the topic Printing digital patterns on A4 paper in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago
The book mentions that the seam allowances are included, I believe. I don’t know whether the free pattern states that they are included, but it tells you what seam allowance to use, and presumably doesn’t tell you to add seam allowances? Sorry, I have made mine from the book rather than the freebie so I’m not closely familiar with it. Feel free to…[Read more]

Two pairs of afterschool pants in denim for the baby – a job and a half to get them on her but they look great and are easier to pull off. Now to redraft the Jalie trouser pattern for Noah and I have to ask Immy if she wants the pull on skinny jeans or the ones I did last year – she may opt for none yet! In the meantime I have cut a music class…[Read more]

I have two fairy tales, two bubbles, and a Scirocco (Figgy’s) done as recital dresses with white bodices and black skirts. Two are in cotton, two in silk, the Scirocco in linen. Silk looks fantastic, cotton is easiest to wear, linen wrinkles like crazy (obviously, right? it was for a very hot day and I thought she’d be cooler and more comfortable)…[Read more]

Still working on the Arielle. I am really enjoying taking my time and producing a beautiful garment. It is a simple pattern with some opportunities for nice touches like a bias-bound facing and hand-blind-stitched hem (did that last night in front of the TV). Tonight I’ll make buttonholes and sew on buttons and then it will be ready to present…[Read more]

Well crazy things do happen don’t they?
Remember when the news broadcast that it snowed in Greenbushes? Its always a newstory when it snows on Bluff Knoll! Just the fact there is a chance of experiencing a “snow day” my kids would be there in a shot – note to self kick the telly out the door! -

Happy sewing Heidi! I better not tell my kids about the snow day, they’d want to move to Tassie!

A tulle circle skirt is a genius idea as that gets around having to seam the tulle.
However, the Fairy Tale dress has a zipper that crosses the waist seam which would complicate things if you wanted the tulle on the outside. Maybe I’m being unambitious but I think an invisible zipper and layers of tulle will not go nicely together.
You might need…[Read more] -

It sounds wonderful Heidi. I hope you post pictures for us to see it when its is complete.
