I’ll second that, the book has so many great patterns in it. I just made 5 of the bear carriers for a birthday party and they were a huge hit. I’m afraid I have two UFO messenger bags lurking somewhere — must get to finishing those!

Thanks Heidi, I agree. It will take the weight away from last minute sewing pressures to prep for Christmas etc. the pink matches her pink and silver shoes perfectly and we can find a silver necklace or something but keep the jewelery at a complete minimum – we need to reflect the standards set by the school I think.

I am currently having a crisis of confidence. I am putting together the Bistro dress pattern with a view of making it for my 13 year old.

Do you think this dress would be too much for a school interview? She’s got her interview the Principal of her new school next week and we want to “look the part” without trying too hard.

I want to make it in…[Read more]

  • Great tip, Nicole — I will bear it in mind when making the tiny sizes.

Oh, a big yes to doll clothes! My daughter hasn’t been hugely interested in her doll, but her grandma is taking her out for the full American Girl experience so she’s getting more excited. I’ve been saving the larger scraps from her clothes so I can make coordinating ones for her doll. Might be a good way to extend my shelf life as the in house seamstress?

@roundtheworldgirl It is so great that you get to do this so soon. My eldest was not a dolly girl and I am hoping very much that the baby will be. I learned to sew by making clothes for my dolls so I am looking forward to.

I have finished the main sewing of Noah’s shirt. I used the Jalie men’s shirt pattern for this and some cloud 9 fabric that…[Read more]

  • The size will determine my answer @frances-suzanne
Up to size 2T, yes. After that I found it perfect.

    Great clothes Fiona!

my sewing has just taken a turn I didn’t think it would for another year or so. My girls decided they wanted American Girl dolls for Christmas. This weekend I tried my hand at making some party dresses for them. I found a jumper pattern online that used to be sold by the company. It is very similar to the O+S Music Box…[Read more]

Perhaps the other companies’ sites would be good places to advertise their products and sales, as I…[Read more]

  • @needlewoman I made the raven hoodie for Imogen in pink faux fur. I actually sized it up and it fit her for a good two years. She had outgrown the sizing but was still in the Oliver and s ranges. I found it so easy to put together and if truth be known, I think those patterns run a big bigger than oliver and s. I made the finch shorts also but…[Read more]

You are marvellous Fiona! All these things for the children are just lovely. I had to pop onto the forum just to see thumbnails because we are currently experiencing a lag in internet speed, so the emailed pictures you sent haven’t loaded enough.

All of them are wonderful! Lucky kids and parents I say!

I haven’t sewn alot this week. I have been…[Read more]
