I am on a personal mission to do a clutch a night until I get to 10??? This way, I will box them up and hand them out like candy for Christmas. Teachers and therapists and such. Although I may need more than 10. I can think of so many people that this is a perfect little gift for.

I am not talking about the flimsy shell ones. Just simple round disks. If the edges are slightly rounded then they might be fine. The only thing you can do is go to the store and look at various button sizes and thicknesses.

I have a daughter with a sensory integration disorder and she has never complained about sitting on flat/shankless…[Read more]

The problem with snaps on the back is manifold, imho. First, if they sit on the snaps in just the right way, they pop open. They are kind of meant to do that. Then, to get a snap strong enough to withstand the pressure of the sit, they are pretty thick and industrial.

Buttons down the back can actually be not a problem. When I have a dress…[Read more]

I want to sew something for men
But my husband is seven foot ten
    Oh! The fabric it takes

PS…. these make me smile… so clever… so fun.

  • hmm, I will check that out. I still do have my 2 rolls of sulky.

With needle and thread in my hand
My plan is to sew something grand
    I have measured and cut

  • I went and specked out your recommendations. The SF101 is great. I ordered a bolt since I can use it both for projects and for collars etc.

I happily ordered online with a 60% coupon from JoAnn’s, so I got a good deal and it will last a long long time… fingers crossed.

  • Ladies, thanks for the suggestions. I am going to JoAnn’s tomorrow to feel them. I made a bag once and it was stiff. That’s not what I want, but I do want some body!

  • The interfacing I normally use is a roll of Sulky fusible interfacing. It is rather silky and provides almost no body. Just stablization for the buttonholes and collars but not much structure. In a Clutch calls for a lightweight fusible.

Is this too lightweight? Do I want something with more body? This Sulky will provide little or no body in my…[Read more]

I just finished raw appliqueing on a cheap-o white T shirt. I did a snow flake pattern using some left over blue scraps. I wanted a “winter” shirt as opposed to a “Christmas” T, because then you only get a month out of that t shirt. I find my self using a “boys” t shirt instead of a girls. Boys shirts are cut with a longer torso, and my…[Read more]

It’s time for my favourite show
But to the sewing room I surely must go
    A project is waiting
    With smocking and plaiting
    It’s a difficult row I must hoe.

(I am not a good starter… but here’s my attempt).

    Maybe to clarify a question…

Registering for the forum is one type of account. The other, the shopping account, requires registering anew. I think you can use the same info, but as Todd so kindly pointed out to me once, they are separate for security reasons. Your purchase account has higher security,…[Read more]

My sewing machine’s on the fritz
I want to smash it to bits

There’ll be hell to pay too

Basements really do cramp your sewing, don’t they? I can’t sew a seam and watch my kids. I can’t sew and chat. I can’t go, “oooh look honey, how good this is turning out.” (Although come to think of it, I get the same response to the empty basement that I do from my husband.– hahahah). Anti social, really. I do sew less in the basement.…[Read more]

While back I got demoted from DR to basement. I started eeking myself back up to DR. Oh I will just be up here for this project. Oh I am starting a new one. Oh I am mid project. LOL

Basement is bad for several reasons: light, temperature, and dirt.

For temp, we have a space heater for my toes.

For light, I have overhead fluro and an…[Read more]
