Haha, that link is great!

I second the After School as definitely worth a go. The back yoke on those is fabulous for giving sufficiently high back coverage. So much so that I’ve used the back half of those mashed to other pants fronts.
I imagine if you use a yoke, like Nature Walk, you can shape that how you like, then add a straight hemmed skirt underneath. -

A swimsuit would be amazing! I have tried a few out there and haven’t found one that I liked the fit/instructions yet. Just imagine one designed by Liesl- it would be perfection!

Do the baby stuff first Masha. The layette is a very quick sew. You could do several pairs of pants altogether in one sitting they are so straight forward.
Baby Chloe is now wearing her pyjamas but the bubbles didnt get cut – yet!

I wonder if this would be a good candidate for fitting on her body with muslin, then working back from that to a paper pattern that could be your master pattern.
So you’d make the back half of a pair of pants as usual, and sew them to the front half just bit above the crotch. Then fold down the front half at the waist into the shape you want and…[Read more]

How exciting Denise (my twin ‘babies’ are 15)!
I can’t wait to be a Nana.

I don’t see it as ‘cheating’, just whatever method you prefer.
I can definitely see the ease in printing and cutting the paper pattern if you are only using that size once. -

Yes I still draft mine also but sometimes I cheat and use the paper pieces for the parts that are one size for the whole size range (ie pockets on the puppet show shorts).
So I am intrigued Denise, which pattern did you decide on first?

Wow I never imagined it would be that cold in California! It doesn’t even get that cold here during the day in winter and I thought our weather was pretty similar.
I need to do poppers on the pj shirt and it is ready to wear tonight.
I want to cut a couple of bubble dresses out today with a view of sewing them during the week. -

I still draft mine off, I dislike working with the stiff paper. I find the glued sheets fold nicely and I store them in a ziplock bag.
The paper sheets are far nicer to trace then tissue. -

How old is your daughter, by your description I am assuming a toddler? So she may only wear the garment for a short time?
If it was me, I would be researching which patterns are the best fit for that body shape, rather then altering a higher waisted pattern.
The After School pants are a brilliant fit, for example, maybe others could chime…[Read more]

Either or possibly both. It would be a rather extensive pattern though wouldn’t it if it were both.

One piece + tankini? Or maillot + coverup?

That is exactly how I want *my* pants to fit, (breathing room in front, plumber’s coverage in back) so although I regrettably don’t have a solution, I eagerly await the advice of others.
