I hope your dress just falls in place, Tamara. Will we get a modeled pic ? 😉 Although I shouldn’t even be asking because I very rarely get around to posting pics on flikr……
Thankfully, I get along quite well with my in-laws and love them dearly. But I do have a bit of an inferiority complex about my housekeeping when compared to my MIL’s
I like that blazer, Heidi!

Grrr….. I was so very tired last night I managed to just move the machines to the new house and wash the fabric! Now the air con guys are here installing the much needed cool air and I have other jobs to do. Plus I spent more than I had hoped in at school discussing things and catching up with teachers etc and finding out all these things my daughter has been up to. Love the fact that I got to speak to the science teacher about how we are lacking in numbers of classes just to get through the curriculum and that he shared a pearl of wisdom with me that not many other parents at the school would be a aware of and that the administration really needs to take notice of.
So no sewing done yet! But I have no choice but to get started and soon. First though I have to find out where the house captain badge that was received on Friday went! It has to be worn daily and I have a child in a panic over it being lost in the move. There always has to be something. We have until Monday evening to locate it as Tuesday is the swimming carnival.
Sewing, scheduled for somewhere in between lunch and collecting kids off the bus (4.15pm) and during homework – maybe that will motivate the kids d’ya think?
I will be so very glad when next week arrives! I will be fully moved in and there will be absolutely no talk of having to go to Perth for a weekend just for a party (seems such a long way at the moment).

Oh and yes Brenda, I will do a modelled pic. I promised when I attempted to make it last time but this is the dress that was supposed to be made weeks ago and I am so wishing I had done it then and not now.

Fantastic!
11 years ago LINKTamara, can’t wait to see the dress! Good luck wiht the moving.
Bren5kids, we are also moving this summer (continents, actually!). We do this every couple years and I always start packing about two months ahead. We have four months left here and right now I am focused on purging what we don’t need. After I’ve done that, I’ll start moving, for example, winter clothes into tubs, etc. It’s so much less stressful when you start early.
I just sewed two Class Picnic dresses and am not sure what I want to do next.

We have a dress! And I have to sleep as it is now Friday!

Oh wow, Tamara! You are one speedy seamstress! I go to bed one day and wake up the next and BAM! you’ve got a dress all made!
RTWG, I think I will follow your example and start the purging. We’ve been living in this house for about 8 years, and with 8 people “stuff” has definitely been accumulating.
I got started on some pjs for my niece yesterday evening. I promised them to her at Christmas and am finally getting around to it. I told myself I couldn’t make another thing until I have them sent off. I am using the Field Trip raglan T-shirt, knit of course, and bedtime story bottoms in flannel. I used my embroidery machine to do a sock monkey applique on the front last night.

Wow, Tamara, good work! I’m purging too, in the event we have to move this summer. I have made the kids promise to join me in a spending freeze for Lent. It’s day 2 and I’m already having a hard time, so I’ve vowed to make myself a new blouse over the weekend from my stash to cheer up. Something pink. 🙂

Photos please Tamara!
Wow, sewing AND moving, that is an accomplishment.
I have been mending again. However, I have decided to be quite brutal and toss some things out. Mending takes a long time and do I really need to be mending trousers that Hugo and the Twins have worn, for Lidia?
We are talking about split waistbands not just the odd knee patch.
I am half way through a Puppet Show tunic, I adore this pattern,

I omitted a few things, like the zipper (I can pop the dress easily over the head) and I forgot to overlock some edges which is NOT what usually happens but I think I was running on adrenalin so mistakes were bound to happen.
I will endeavour to charge the camera so we can take some photos but they probably won’t be uploaded until next week. Still, I did promise pics so the camera shyness will have to go away for now.
Moving and sewing generally don’t mix but this sewing drought has definitely broken. I vow to not leave sewing for this long, for an extremely long time.

I’ve traced off all the pieces for my blazer/jacket and I have done the adjustments to the front princess seam pieces! Now onto the back so the the sides meet!

Today I think I will start on my Chantilly muslin. I am using a peach gauze fabric on the outside so I want to make French seams on the dress skirt and bind the seams were the zipper is at on the left side as well. I will see how this goes then I be starting on my Chantilly Palos Verde Voile dress! EEPP! I can’t wait to start on this dress but first the test run.
