What are you sewing now?

I just wish my hubby as enthusiastic about my sewing for him as what I am hearing all you gals’ hubbys are! I got the short straw on that quality I think. I think he might think I am too busy sewing for the kids that I don’t have time to sew for him also and so doesn’t bother asking. But then I need an explanation as to why the idea of sewing negroni pattern was received with a grunt when he knows I have purchased it and printed it out – or does he?

What pattern are you using for the pjs Katy? What fabric have you chosen for the negroni shirt?

I haven’t sewn yet today. I was watching a craftsy class instead – and fell asleep! It wasn’t boring (not in the least bit) I was just a bit sleepy.

Tamara, I only really have one pattern for my husband *she winces* and that is the Simplicity pj’s pattern 5329. I have used it before so I know it is reliable. I may make a couple of different bottoms because his bed attire is badly in need of updating. I will make some sweatshirt shorts and some madras print bottoms to tide him over while I choose more boyish fabric. (I don’t have much!)

I also purchased New Look 6412 a while back. It is a his & hers pattern pack with vest tops, joggers and hoodies. I will do a few new sleep tops for him from that one.

The Negroni pattern isn’t printed out yet but he took a few minutes to assess his wardrobe and decided that a plain black version would be good. It is a start and I am not questioning it!

I was very excited to see Thread Theory releasing paper versions of their menswear patterns. As I was buying them all I asked my dear husband if he’d wear anything I made him. He answered ” if it’s any good”. Nothing if not honest.

I made an Art Museum vest and trousers with a long sleeved Sketchbook shirt for my son to wear to the theatre today. But the heatwave hit yesterday so I zoomed off a pair of Sketchbook shorts and he wore those with his vest over a T-Shirt. The Art Museum is definitely another pattern that makes one feel very pleased with oneself! I didn’t even know what those slit-ty pockets were called and now I’m a welt-master!

Black Negroni! That would be perfect for my husband! 🙂

I finally got the sleeves on my school photo dress, it is gorgeous! Just what i was expecting and I even sewed the lining to the zipper tape by machine! I was glad I was able to do that as I doubt my hand would have been happy with all that hand sewing 🙁 Just the button and hook and eye.

I am thinking about covered snaps for my cord and lace dress and jacked. I have been stalled at the buttons but I think that might be the answer.

I finished up Garrett book bag last night and he is thrilled with it. I am a bit down today so I think I may just sew up a skirt for me instead.

Decided on sequins for the princess bodice – spent the last two days sewing them on by hand. Tomorrow I can finally assemble the bodice. But I just want to sew for me …

Sharon I hope you are feeling a bit better!

*Groan* honesty is the best policy! And my clueless husband has just asked me what Negroni is! I think I will crawl under the covers and hide!!

Thread theory! Will have to google them and see what they have. I know Jalie have mens patterns that seem ok but I am yet to receive the two Jalie patterns I have bought so will try them out first before purchasing more.

Katy at least your hubby is organised!

At least my kids have some idea of what I can make them.

Yes Lightning the heat wave has hit your end of the country and despite us cooling down from it we are in for another this weekend! Blurgh!

In the meantime I want to finish that quilting sewing the binding on and go alter a pattern for me! Yes I want to do it today.

Refashioning a dress from the Op shop into a hopscotch dress. I had to cut the front panel slightly narrower and I’m planning on adding contrast neck binding and long sleeves under the short to give the layered look 🙂

I have decided when it is Imogen’s turn for something, I am going to make a combination dress between the seashore and the underdress of the Pinwheel. She was wearing the pinwheel underdress as a sundress today and asked for another one like it so I think I will make it more seashore for difference. We had issues with the straps last time I made the seashore so this should clear up any problems with holes been made by buttons being pulled too tight.

The pinwheel bodice is also slightly roomier for her which is what she prefers at the moment.

I imagine that the pinwheel with the princess seams would be very flattering on her Tamara.

I got most of my hopscotch dress done, but I will need to come back and hem the sleeves as my machine tried to eat them.

I should think so, it suits a slender figure.

I have finished the quilting on this table runner and although I love the design I don’t think I will be doing the “spaghetti and meatballs” again anytime soon. I used a whole reel of isacord thread and had to start on the second, both of which I had put aside for another quilt that is yet to be done. Oh well! leah did say you need heaps of thread!

Anyway, because that is done, I can just sew on the binding and stitch it down at will (like in front of the telly to keep the hands busy). Now I can get on with something for myself before doing an appliqué project I promised my sister in time for school’s return. No rest for the wicked!

I give myself the weekend to do a “me” project (that includes tomorrow) and then it is straight into the dinosaurs bags.

    Well done Tamara!

Best feeling ever when you go to trace the next pattern you want to make and look at the pattern sheet and think “I’m sure I traced this a while ago.” Go and look on the pattern shelf and there’s an appropriate file and in that file is the majority of the pattern traced in all the sizes you own (6m to 4) but the one you want to make, size 4, is traced completely! Win!

Off to make a Family Reunion dress 🙂

    Tamara @justsewit

Oh yes! But I do find that rather irritating to find the pattern you have just traced was traced already! Mind you I don’t have a fancy filing system like yours and maybe I should! Another thing to add to the list for this year. I will just pick up lots of multi coloured display folders when I pick up black ones for school – and extra dymo tape!

I am tossing up over whether to do a Colette Hawthorn or something else. It is all a matter of how much fabric I need versus how much I have. Whatever makes the hear sing I guess.

Tamara, I was very thankful for my filing system catching me before I traced it again! I think the tidy i did just recently was very timely as I had just seen the name on the back of the file 🙂
