Well I have cut a market skirt in green drill and one in denim for me. Just need to locate appropriate zippers and we can get sewing.
Next I want to try out the market top in voile.
12 years ago LINKCan’t wait to see, Tamara! I have that pattern but have yet to even open it.

I came to a crunching halt – had to go cheer a husband up who is having a bit of a hard time getting ready for harvest. I have gotten as far as laying and pinning but haven’t cut so will try and get to it tomorrow again in between dealing with the usual.
We have just returned from junior tennis where Imogen wore her hula hoop skirt – perfect for tennis.
I will set up “Dolly” to model the outfit once done.

Oh Tamara I can’t wait to see them! I have had this pattern for what seems like forever and have yet to try it out. Next month I will sew for me…
I have three more mittens to se today then to finish Sarah’s wool coat. *squeal!* I can’t wait for this one. I did managed to pick up some twill camouflage fabric in two different prints but I am not sure if it will be enough for coats form Wyatt and Garrett, well see.

Well if you want great encouragement I must say this forum is certainly the right place to claim it! Thank you so much. You will need to be kind though as the proportions of the outfit are body specific not pattern determined (if you understand that rather intricate phrase). I tried on the denim market skirt I’d made ages ago and because it was stretch denim I was getting a bit excited about losing some of the inches I’d added to the pattern. Alas no! Not to be with a fabric with less stretch but I think it isn’t that bad and at the end of the day if it is comfortable then that is all that matters.
I need to do a muslin for the blouse as I haven’t made it before and the last time I made something with bust darts I had them under the armpits! Can’t have that now can we? So because the plain muslin has been used up I will have to choose a very old print – something I wouldn’t be seen dead in and that I could see how the pattern went. Of course “Dolly” has different proportions so you will have to imagine her being at least a foot taller.
We shall see how much is done this weekend. I have a very important cleaning engagement first though!

If it fits and looks good that’s most important! The skirt and top sound great.
I’m attempting to turn the bias apron from LTTS into a Narnia tabard! This is what happens when I decide not to make anything from my “to make” list but just go with the immediate inspiration!

I hope it works out! I am still yet to make a dinosaur version of the bear hat. I have it on the list for Christmas presents though, to go with the Harry and his bucket books for my five year old nephew.
At the moment though I am surrounded by books because thanks to immediate inspiration I decided to sort out the crafts magazines. It will be good once I am done but I have sacrificed afternoon sewing time to do so.
Do any of the Aussie ladies know of “the country mail” and if it is still going? Yes I have uncovered a very out of date catalogue of sewing aids, habby and fabric. So immediate inspiration is very much required.
Tomorrow I am sewing and stitching all day long.

All day! How fun. I am ready for some inspirational sewing. But I first have to slog through some Halloween costumes and hem the school uniform pants. bleh. But, I did finish my very first smocked garment for baby girl for her 3d birthday: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24264063@N05/10497433764/ She did not cooperate for pictures, so I’ll have to try again another day.

The cleaning expedition has exhausted me to the extent of not being able (or wanting to ) to move! It took all day but is so worth the result and I wish I had done this part sooner. So because of this, I haven’t been near the nook yet and it is ten o’clock already!
Instead I have been attempting to download the material lists for my latest craftsy class and not having alot of luck. I need the sim card I think as the home connection is so slow a snail would move faster!
The green fabric is still there waiting with the skirt pieces laid out so now is the chance to get sewing. First I will see to the pet lambs and then go sew I think – before Murray requires my help shifting machinery for harvest.
I am hoping to find some old fabric for use as a muslin for the top in order to make that also but we will see how we go for time. I might just get as far as the muslin and have to stop.
Other things on the list for the week include. Cutting and starting the quilt top for Imogen’s bed and making a table quilt top. That should keep me busy!
12 years ago LINKwith love Heidi @with love Heidi
Yes Tamara that should keep you busy! Especially with harvest as well π
I finished up my tabbard yesterday and now I’m tracing off and modifying the size 4 and 7 pieces I need for my next two music class nightgowns!

Tamara I used to subscribe to “Country Mail” and recently contacted them, they have been taken over by a different company, still textiles but they don’t have the sample books anymore. If you have something specific in mind they will send a sample. Not quite the same I loved thumbing through the samples, they used to have great fabric.
Sorry for not answering sooner we have been busy packing and unpacking with the bush fires here. Hubby didnt think it was essential to take my fabric stash and machines but thought the golf clubs should be in the car, Hmmmmmmmm.
12 years ago LINKGolf clubs but not sewing supplies????
OK, I’m a guy, but I’ve gotta question that decision. And maybe the whole basis of the relationship while we’re at it. Mim22, do you really think he’s the right man for you over the long run? π
(OK, that’s a joke, everyone. I do not want to be known as the one who broke up a marriage in the discussion forums.)

I’m with Todd. Sewing supplies are right up there with family photos and birth certificates. They should be top of the list!

If the golf clubs go then the machines do too! π
Although I could replace my sewing machine and stash, what I would take is my copy of “The Vouge Sewing Book” 1970 and my collection of Enid Gilchrist sewing books/magazines as I think these would be very difficult to replace.
Not a lot of sewing today as I am recovering from the tummy bug that’s going round π
