Thank you ladies I had a ton of fun making Caspian’s costume! I think it suits him very well. He are still working on the hat, he did wear it for about 1 minute yesterday so we’ll see how it goes.
On the same lines his coat from last year I made him still fits wonderfully! I won’t have to make him a new one. I am going to try and find red wool for one for Sarah. Any of you ladies know a great place to find some online? I am wanting a thinker fabric for very cold winter weather.

What coat are you making in which size? I’m making a thick red wool school days coat right now and can could both send you a scrap to see if you like the material, and check the shop to see if they have any left. It’s wider, so you wouldn’t need as much as a 44″ fabric.

I just have to say what kind and generous souls there are on this forum! You are so kind Sarvi I hope the offer is accepted.
Not sewing on the machine at the moment. I actually did some cross stitch today – only because of having shaking hands from lack of needle and thread withdrawal. I felt like I needed some sort of sewing rehab! Still the therapy worked!
I hope to get back to the machine this weekend as the rest of this week is busy busy. I will look forward to reading all the goings on when I can again on Monday – internet issues at home apparently.

Thanks Sarvi! That would be fabulous! Caspian’s is a wool blend and so soft and warm that I want her’s to be the same way. I am so excited to finally to be able to have a real winter this year and want to be prepared for it. I will be also making all my kids the scarf from the LTTS book too. I can’t wait! Now to finish up Halloween sewing..

It all sounds so lovely. I wish I was sewing for cooler climates.
I finished the D&D Bleuet dress, it was a quick sew for a dress. Unfortunately, it is a little on the tight side for Zara but Elsa can just squeeze into it. I started another and added 1cm to the waist and I fitted that last night and it looks as if it will be just right.
I am using the pattern as a school tunic. If this one fits nicely,I have another three to make.
I snuck in some pretty CW floral as a hem & collar facing, just to make sewing more fun.
Since my children wear school uniforms 5/7 days I may as well make them pretty if I can.
I am longing to sew something small and pretty…..

How fun to have them in their matching gear!
I went to gather my supplies for Sarah’s dress but the pink zipper is missing now. I am very sure little man walked off with it. He seems to do that with anything that is not tied down. There was no sewing these past few days again, I had another spell so I hope to feel better soon to get her dress done.

Nicole, you do you have several someones at your home who are ‘small and pretty’ so hopefully they’ll come up in the sewing rota soon. If not, is there a special doll who might need something new to be laid aside as a Christmas present? I am vowing that THIS is finally the year I make a tree skirt and an advent calendar. I have seen so many calendars I like but I guess not just the right one since I have made several sketches but not started anything yet. I like to think that when ‘the one’ comes along I won’t be able to resist starting on it right away. See also stockings. Old Navy stockings for another year, perhaps.
12 years ago LINKI’m finally sewing a Playtime for my oldest! Yay! I’m using this Michael Miller black/white quatrefoil interlock: http://www.etsy.com/listing/104379110/cotton-interlock-quatrefoils-black-by. I made three little matryoshka doll appliques during naptime today; those will go on the hem. The matryoshkas incorporate pink and purple so hopefully the overall black-and-whiteness of the dress won’t be an obstacle. My neckline topstitching isn’t showing up as much as I’d like, but I don’t think that can be helped. Probably won’t be finished for another day or two as all three kiddos have been sick and my throat is suspiciously sore as well.
Good luck on the Christmas prep, Sarvi. I did finally make a Christmas tree skirt last year … with fabric I had bought the previous year … and which I no longer like. Oh well. Serves me right for not going classic.

Tastes change so quickly, don’t they? A lot of things I prized when I first started sewing don’t seem so desirable to me now..
Get well soon!

My mom made our tree skirt and the three older boys’ stocking years ago, 8 years this Christmas. After Caspian was born I made Sarah and Prince C matching ones with a matching Advent from scrap fabrics my mom sent me in the mail. The Advent is much like the one my sister and I had growing up. I guess I love them so because they remind me of the ones when I was little. : )

I just finished a pair of after school pants. The pattern is slim, so I made a 6 for my solidly built 4.5 year old. Sewing with thick corduroy is strange. The nap seems to shift the fabric when the naps are opposite. I love the velvety feel.
I bought a woman’s coat pattern on eBay last week. I am planning and plotting a wool coat for myself. I always plan to sew for myself and never do. Maybe this will be the time I do.
12 years ago LINKFinished the Playtime! Hooray! Maybe she will wear it to the birthday party we are going to tomorrow; then I can get photos. I had a heck of a time hemming the dress. I used a knit and wanted to do a double line of stitching for the hem, but the right hand needle kept skipping stitches and I couldn’t get it to work. I tried using my 3-step zigzag, but that also skipped. Finally I just used my straight stretch stitch – not as pretty but at least it didn’t skip. I don’t know what is wrong; my regular zigzag has been skipping for a little while now. Might be time to find a local technician. Frustrating!
