I have to google Graves – I’m a bit clueless as to what this actually is.

It does make you feel good to have the kids say that. I was trying to explain it to my sister yesterday when she showed me this knitted sweater (jumper) she’s making that has dinosaurs all over it and it is for her four year old son. He comes in jumping up and down saying “That’s for me and I’m going to wear it” she giggled rather embarrassed but was more disappointed over the result of the knitting to feel any sort of pride in his comments.

It doesn’t matter to them if the seam is wonky or the buttons are on crooked. They love it because you made it for them and that is all that matters.

I showed Master J the cover of the art museum pattern and asked if that could be for him. He had to think about it and then said “Nooooooo” and smiled. I will make one part of it orange as it is one of his favourite colours. And I have to do something with dinosaurs as this is what he loves right now. Maybe the vest with a dinosaur print or something. K’s going to send measurements.

No sewing today as we have an expo to attend but can’t wait to get started on things again tomorrow.

It looks like I will have to use the last of the blue Cape Ann stripe for a larger size shirt for Noah. He is wearing the current one because apparently he wore it last time to expo and it looks tight on the arms. We’ll see how it goes today.

I just measured my two middle boys and they are finally in a size 7, I could believe it so I measured again. Wyatt is 9 and Garrett 7. They really have grown! Garrett did try his shirt on and it fits great. He was ready for me to take photos of him in it. (I am loving this!!)

I had to google Graves too after the doctor told me what I had, I had not really herd of it either until now. I have a weight problem, as in too much weight and I always thought graves is for skinny people but I am one of the lucky (very sarcastic) ones how have gained weight with this. It took a bit before the doctor figured it all out. I have all the other symptoms though but I would welcome weight loss one. ; )

Yes, RTWG, I think our kids are similar age/sizes, but Julia has a fairly generous derriere! I’ve been yanking her size 3 bedtime story pj’s from last year up over her behind…..but, yesterday, she wore a size 2 hopscotch skirt to school with a size 3 2+2 blouse….both fit her just fine. So, I think it’s the cut of the pattern; for sure, in any type of pants, I’m going to be make a full on size 4.

I just got the new patterns delivered today, so I’m thinking I may have to interrupt my pajama sewing for a quick “new pattern” fix this weekend!

I’ve finished my white sketchbook shirt with French Cuffs!! Yay! The last parts cuffs, hem and buttonholes went without a hitch, no unpicking. I also sewed buttons and buttonholes on my yellow art Museum Vest which goes with the white shirt for a birthday gift.

Now I get to sew something easy fun tonight!

I am currently printing the Art museum and playtime patterns off ready to stick together. I have to do a bit of tidying before I can cut out though – left the nook in a mess post show sewing. No biggie! I am looking forward to diving into the new patterns in the larger sizes.

I might even do an Art museum outfit for my 4 year old nephew. I have to get measurements first as I think he still falls into the size 4 for the pants.

The express parcel wasn’t there today so I have time to pre prepare before the fabric gets here.

I am cutting a tiny Art Museum Vest, 6-12m, just for a non essential sew!

I love the new Art Museum vest! I can’t wait to get my patterns of this.

I love non essential sewing especially of new patterns! It is just nice to see the two ends of the sizing scale to find out that yes they do in fact look the same with the only difference being the size.

I also love the idea of french cuffs!

For some strange reason, I inadvertently printed two copies of the Art museum pattern last night. I suppose in a way it is a good thing as then I can cut to the size on both. It wasn’t the intention though.

I think if you team the sailboat pants with the Art museum vest you could have a pirate of a costume on your hands! I need to learn to turn the LTTS hood into a dinosaur though – the child is as mad on this as my son is on trains!

Have you seen the dinosaur hoodies? Basically a hooded jumper with fabric spikes down the back, I’ve made a couple and they have been big hits.

How long ago did you do them? Are they on flickr? I think he would go crazy over a dino hood.

I have just cut out three pairs of Art museum pants in a size 10. I have some I want to cut in a 12 but probably won’t get to all of them straight away. The favoured colour has taken a different course and green seems to be the flavour of the month. So I have some light green drill that both kids will have pants made from – then when N needs the 12 he can have a hand me down. I have some red stretch drill that I will use also. I am being a bit cautious as to what colours to use right now though as I only have a week before our first holiday jaunt to the city and that has to incorporate som Birthday sewing in amongst it.

Yes the week will be filled of juggling sewing with sheep work!

Wow, ladies sounds like you’ve all been working very hard. I hope all the garments turn out well, and are graciously received.

Relevant grandparents are collecting the vest and pants for Mr Two tomorrow to tote them to Bendigo for their school holiday visit, and I have only half a hem, and four buttons to sew on, and the corduroy Vintage Romper dress is finished. And it really does look very smart! As Miss 4’s uncle is unable to collect til next week, I started on two bubble dresses (6-12mth) for my neighbours’ child. They are off to northern India for 6 weeks late Monday, and if I get one done, that will be fine. After that, there’s plenty to do but I’m not sure exactly which of the things cut out will get selected first. Most likely to be size 2 Ice Cream in navy cord/pink/blue check, a size 3 Popover Sundress and, a Size 7 Roller Skate in the same fabric that I made the size 4 – already on Flickr.

My new patterns haven’t arrived yet but I think a couple of the Playtime will be first to be traced off as the most practical things to make for some friends going OS mid October. I’m also thinking a couple of Sailboat tops/skirts for same girls. Given they will be visiting both Florida, and San Francisco between mid Oct, and early Nov, it’s a bit hard to know what is the most useful for them. Autumn is the most beautiful time of the year (in my opinion) but very changeable, and difficult to pack for. Anybody who knows more about the temps that can be expected in those places, I would be very glad to have your input.

The raspberry cord came from Country Bumpkin nearly 10 years ago, J. It was a 3 metre package but I haven’t had much real use for it until this year but I’ve been determined not to waste it.

Finished the Cinderella dress this evening – hooray! I have one more princess dress to make, for my niece, who will be 3 in November. Her mother has requested a purple dress – just a generic princess dress and not specific to any movie. I cut out the bodice tonight but I need to get some trim before I sew it together. And after that I will be all princessed out. Then it will be time for three flannel nightgowns (one for each daughter and one for my niece), and THEN I can tackle Playtime.

I can’t wait to see both princess dresses! This is a big hit in our house with little miss 3.

Sounds delightful. My daughter went through the princess dress phase rather fast.

I had raspberry corduroy from CB also Needlewoman. Such a pretty colour.

It is raining and I really want to get sewing those pants. But we have jobs to do and then church this morning so if I make a start I will be lucky.

I also have to make new pjs sometime this week as there is a dirty great tear in one of the pants! Don’t ask me what the kids do!

Tamara, I made the Dino hoodies about two and a half years ago, before I even discovered Oliver and S! I did take photos of at least one of them, but they are not on Flicker, I’ll need to look for them.

Basically I split the Hoodie down the middle of the back, made a spike template, cut the polar fleece out, sewed up the spikes then sewed them into the back seam. I have made them from both shop bough and home sewn Hoodies. I can’t find the original tutorial I used, I think the Blog may no longer be available, it was from Just Sew Sassy. But this is basically the same instructions http://bethbl.wordpress.com/2012/01/27/dino-hoodie-with-tutorial/

Or this one where you don’t have to cut the hoodie http://www.whateverdeedeewants.com/2013/04/dinosaur-hoodie-sweatshirt-tutorial.html
