What are you sewing now?

Is this the cargo pockets or the upper inseam pockets?

The ones that you have to fold and sew then attach. They are coming undone on just one pocket but on both pairs! At least least he hasn’t worn them backwards and ripped the fronts again or anything like that. I just find that knotting the threads doesn’t do it and nor does the machine stop stitch or the backstitch. Plus the machine did tiny stitches to start with getting over the layers on the pocket on the other legs and they re the ones that seem to stay, yet it was purely unintentional. I just noticed them when he was out in the denim ones the other day.

Might have something to do with the need to scale fences!

I haven’t had any trouble, but they don’t scale fences regularly 🙂 I sew the front pocket, turn and use two rows of top stitching then sew the side seam, overlock and then another two rows of top stitching down the side seam. Unless they are coming apart at the top?

Its really funny as the flaps stay put but the pocket comes undone. I do the double topstitch around the top (hip) pockets but I dont double topstitch the leg pockets and maybe that is what I should do to secure them. The fence is actually a small stock crate in the backyard that is hold our two four legged babies in (or else Rocket will live up to his name again). Yes they come undone at the top even though I do the little triangle and lockstitch AND am careful to not clip the knot when tidying the threads at the back – I often use the autocutter.

No, I haven’t double top stitched the cargo pockets either.

I just finished my second ice cream top. I used some of the pigeon fabric from Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. It is a charming pattern.

I had a coordinating solid for the yoke and lovely smooth shirting for the yoke lining. I love all the colors together. I’ll post pictures to Flickr.

It is already a hit. My daughter doesn’t usually care what she wears as long as it is comfortable, but this she put right on.

I have grand plans to sew Fall clothing this week. I just don’t know where to start.

I agree the pigeon driving the bus fabric is very sweet. Apparently there was pigeon racing on the weekend near us but they definitely flew!

I am in love with the new Heather Ross range and am sorely tempted to buy some of the precious prints “just for the sake of it” – call it selfish purchasing!

I think as far as the cargo pockets are concerned I think I need to look at the stitch length maybe. Not that I go any larger than the default despite how good it looks with the thickness of thread and the stitch length. If it means it can hold together in the wash…. I’d e quite happy to find a solution because I normally don’t do mending if I can help it.

    Maybe a bartack?

Working on my cargos just the belt loops and waist band to go, oh and the elastic 🙂

Hopefully I can take them to Bible study tonight and turn up the growth cuff and they’ll be ready to wear.

Sewed five luggage tags during naptime yesterday. I’ve had them cut out for ages but they were languishing in a pile on my sewing table. They are so cute and great for making suitcases stand out. I have three more cut out and ready to go. Then I might make a couple doll quilts as requested by the girls.

Didn’t sew today. I just ordered some more thread for this applique quilt and also a large spool attachment to go on the back of my machine to hold the isacord thread which is just a tiny bit big for the regular threading. While I am waiting though I will do the last skirt for a friend’s daughter who is super skinny and needs the elastic taken in for her school skirt and maybe mend the cargos while I am at it.

I also plan to cut out and prepare the items I have opted to do for the show and maybe if there is time I want to make myself something (or at least prepare to).

    Half way through a Deer&Doe blouse-divine!

Its for Elsa and I am using City Weekend lemon Corner Florist. Its demure but not babyish and Zara has requested one too.

    Win!

I think today I will sew a new seat for the girls’ long-defunct doll stroller. Should be easy and quick.
