That is exciting! Once you get your usual adjustments down, you really can make all sorts of things. Warning, though, you’ll never be happy with rtw again! 🙂

Wow! That sounds like a great class to be a part of. Hope the dress turns out stunning!

I have just finished stitching the appliqué pieces onto the background fabrics for the school things. Then it is possibly a trip into town to get the school supplies and some shorter zippers. Them this afternoon I can layer them with the wool batting to make them “puff”, go around the, again a couple more times and then start doing a bit of quilting. I am really surprised at how fast they came together this time as last time I did this it took the whole summer holidays!

Maybe it is a slightly different strategy I am using. But it seems that they are on track to be completed before the end of the weekend. School starts Monday!

How exciting cybele! to have your own fitted bodice piece. Hope the penopy goes well.

Moving on to new things. I finished tracing the upper parts of the Field Trip for Isabel last night. I am however rethinking cutting it out from the twill right away. I have a sneaking feeling my grading won’t be enough so I’ll use some regular white broadcloth I normally use for toiles.

I also need to trace the Jump Rope in size 8 for Sofia. I traced the view A in size 8 but silly me got lazy and skipped on the view B. Now I have to unfold that huge tissue sheet once more and trace two pieces. Grrr.

Think about it this way lattemama, you get to reacquaint yourself with the pattern in a different way. But I hope the trousers work for you.

Well I think it took me all of an hour to quilt one panel of the kokeshi pencil case. My quilting leads a bit to be desired but the kids who are looking at it aren’t experts so I’m not too worried!

I will endeavour to do the second one tonight and then leave the “boy” ones for Thursday after the uniforms are collected. Shopping and haircuts tomorrow.

Thinking about spring! We still have a few months before it really starts to get warmer but with the field trip pattern I’m going to sewing more for my son as well so I need to get started earlier.

K has had quite a growth spurt and I’m noticing things are suddenly much smaller on her! So I’m starting to plan for spring, or at least early spring stuff. I spotted the most precious little coat and am planning to copy it. http://www.janieandjack.com/shop/dept_item.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524443471625&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374303320115&bmUID=1359508432263&productSizeSelected=0

But I haven’t decided yet what else she needs. Which are your favorites for spring for a 2 1/2 year old?

Not sure what your spiring is like but I immediatly thought of a Sunday Brunch Jacket and a Tea Party sundress to wear over a long sleeve shirt and tights/leggings and then as it for summer.

meleliza, I love this coat! I can’t wait to see this made up!

My favorites are for play wear is the Bubble dress and Tea party but I love the puppet show and Apple Picking dress and Music Class for church and town clothes for spring. Something that I can add a sweater to when it’s cold or wear as is when it’s hot out.

Right now I just finshed cutting out Sweet pea’s coat. I plan on making the lining for hers as well but I don’t have it cut out yet. Things have been going so slow here this wee due to me not feeling well but I hope to get somethings done before this weekend. Next week I am taking the week off! 🙂

The Apple picking dress was first to spring to mind – pardon the pun there! And I love the Playdate dresses seen on little girls. That is a classic I think. Family Reunion also is lovely for spring and maybe the School photo dress . Any of them really.

Hope you feel better soon Sharon.

Justsewit…… I have to say you threw me for a loop! My name is Sharon as well and have been fighting a chest cold for the past two weeks that is taking its toll and leaving me exhausted. When I saw your well wishes to “Sharon” I thought, how sweet, then I it was like the Twilight Zone because my last post said nothing about being ill and I don’t think I’ve used my name…..anyway……like I said, I’m really tired 🙂

As for spring clothes for littles, i lean towards jumpers because you can layer with long sleeves, then short sleeves and depending on the cut during high summer no shirt at all. The Icecream dress is also one of my favorites. It looks adorable with a long sleeved tee but is roomy enough to be nice and cool when it gets hot.

Im in the northeast, so spring is well, spring. Wet and windy to start out then really beautiful by May. Yes, I think definitely ice cream dresses. And maybe a spring styled music box jumper. She need a 3t now, so she’s grown out of bubble and tea party. 🙁

Feel better everyone! I’ve been fighting something too, but am really trying hard not to get as sick as I was in the fall. There is all kinds of nasty going around. Rest up, mamas!

Layering is definitely a favorite stratagem here as well. I like both the tea party and music box because they look just as nice as sleeveless sundresses in summer as they do over long sleeves in spring. I haven’t made a tea party in ages, must trace that.

Homefire, cue the blinking lights and weird music! How funny is that?! Get well soon to you too! Winter colds and things can have you laid up for days, honestly I hope it is dealt with quickly and not become something worthy of a hospital stay.

It’s the day I find out about these school dresses! Part of me is nervous as anything about the fabric – lots of “what ifs” going through the mind. I know there will be school emblems embroidered on places with this lot of uniforms so I will get a quote from the embroidery shop as to how much it would cost for me to get them to do that bit once the fabric is finalised. It may take a little while to get it sorted out but if I start with shorts for N first and go from there, it shouldn’t be too bad. And then I will have to start all over again with the winter uniform!!

But first though, I am finishing off what will become one of a kind designer school stuff!
